A Light Contract (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 4
Yura stared blankly at the hand Oh Se Jin had extended toward her. Her head spun with confusion over why he was acting this way right in front of her. Realizing belatedly the attention now falling on her, she reluctantly took his hand.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Jin Yoo Ra.”
Jin Ho remained visibly restless. When Oh Se Jin added insult to injury by making an outrageous suggestion, Yura’s expression hardened instantly.
“Since it’s lunchtime anyway, how about we grab a meal together?”
Jin Ho hurriedly stepped between them, cutting off Oh Se Jin’s request.
“Our Team Leader Jin has an outside appointment right now and needs to leave immediately. Let’s postpone lunch for another time.”
“Oh, really?”
“Team Leader Jin, we should get going now.”
Though Jin Ho desperately tried to get them out of this situation, Yura felt no pity for him at all. In fact, she almost wanted to grab him by the collar.
“I’m sorry. Excuse me first.”
Having already greeted them, Yura was fidgeting, eager to vanish from between these two men—until an unexpected remark from Oh Se Jin stopped her in her tracks.
“Team Leader Jin Yoo Ra, would you mind dropping me off at my accommodation on your way out for your appointment?”
“Huh?”
“It’s a hotel right on your way out from the art center, so it won’t take any extra time.”
Instantly, everyone’s gaze turned to Yura. Caught completely off guard, she frowned, unable to control her expression.
Was this exactly why he’d shown up unannounced?
Yura racked her brain, wondering what to do. Oblivious to the tension thick in the air, one employee chimed in, backing up Oh Se Jin.
“Since the team leader’s heading out for an outside appointment anyway, you might as well go together.”
Yura took a deep breath and forced an awkward smile. Cornered with no way to refuse, she reluctantly replied.
“…Alright, I understand.”
Seeing how people’s eyes kept flicking between her and Oh Se Jin, she knew that if she refused now, they’d surely start whispering rumors about something going on between them.
[This is the timeline separator]After telling him to wait a moment in the parking lot, Yura headed back to her office. Her mind, emptied as though someone had cut it out with scissors, refused to fill back up.
Even after pulling her car keys from her bag hanging on the coat rack, Yura couldn’t quite bring herself to step outside.
She never imagined she’d run into him right here at her workplace. Now, at last, it made sense why Jin Ho’s secrecy about the second-half performer had felt so unsettling.
“How could you possibly bring in Oh Se Jin!”
The fact that he’d gone ahead and recruited Oh Se Jin—fully aware of their history—made her stomach churn.
Yura took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, barely managing to smooth out her furious expression.
This was the office; she couldn’t afford to show personal emotions here. Telling herself there must be a solution if she thought carefully enough, she calmed down and left her office.
She’d clearly told him to wait in the parking lot, yet Oh Se Jin stood waiting for her by the elevator.
Back then too, whenever he’d said he’d bring the car and told her to wait, he’d stick by her side no matter where they went. At the time, even that behavior made her heart flutter—but now, everything about him just infuriated her.
Tense silence filled the descending elevator as they headed toward the parking lot, and no one dared speak. She desperately wanted to coldly kick him out while they were alone, but as he’d come here officially as a performer, even that was out of the question.
Upon reaching the parking lot, Yura stopped next to her car and opened the back door.
“Please get in.”
Se Jin glanced briefly at the open back seat, then gently smiled and walked past Yura to open the passenger door.
“I’ll sit here.”
Yura’s eyes turned icy as she watched him climb into the passenger seat without even asking permission.
Moments later, as if releasing her boiling anger, she slammed the back door shut and took a sharp, ragged breath. She wanted nothing more than to throw her car keys on the ground and grab Oh Se Jin by the collar to drag him out.
Recalling the saying that God only gives people trials they can handle, Yura walked toward the driver’s seat—praying desperately that this damn God would actually keep that promise.
As always, Yura drove calmly and smoothly. Ever since she’d once crashed into a utility pole while overwhelmed by emotion, she made it a rule never to let her thoughts interfere while driving—and so far, she’d kept that rule well.
“Our Yura really is an excellent driver.”
Now, however, all that hard-earned composure began to waver. Hearing Oh Se Jin’s familiar, casual tone, Yura’s grip tightened on the steering wheel.
Back when they were dating, her mother had gifted her this car as a graduation present. With it, Yura had become Se Jin’s ride to and from his piano lessons. His nostalgic remark now only stoked her anger.
How dare he speak to me like that? Afraid her rage would take over completely, Yura turned on the radio. As soft jazz filled the car, he spoke again.
“Are you mad?”
“…….”
“Was my surprise appearance too sudden?”
Refusing even to open her mouth at such a ridiculous question, she stayed silent. So he called her name in that same gentle voice from before.
“Yura-ya.”
Thankfully, just as he called out to her, they arrived at their destination. Yura pulled up to the hotel entrance and corrected his address in a cold, strictly professional tone.

“I’m Team Leader Jin Yoo Ra.”
Her words carried a clear, threatening nuance: How dare you address me so casually? Yet he ignored it completely and pressed on.
“Aren’t you happy to see me?”
Yura let out a scoffing laugh, didn’t even glance his way, and gave a stiff, mechanical reply with a slight nod.
“It’s an honor to assist you like this.”
“Yura-ya…”
“I assume you can find your way to your room on your own.”
“…Alright. See you soon. We’ve got plenty of time now.”
Even his parting words—which sounded as if he were letting her win this round—couldn’t make Yura flinch; she just stared straight ahead. The moment he finally got out and closed the passenger door, she slammed the accelerator without mercy.
Yura quickly exited the hotel and pulled over onto the shoulder shortly afterward. With her emotions boiling over, she feared she might really cause an accident just like before if she kept driving.
She refused to repeat another embarrassing episode because of that man.
“Hah, of all the things that could happen.”
Yura let out a bitter laugh and bit her lip.
Both this absurd situation and Jin Ho’s ridiculous behavior were twisting her insides. She wanted to know clearly whose brilliant idea this had been.
If Jin Ho had truly ignored her and contacted Oh Se Jin behind her back, she was ready to cut ties for good this time—and grabbed her phone to confirm.
Her call went unanswered for a long time, as if he were avoiding her. Just as she was determined to keep calling until someone gave in, he finally picked up.
“It’s me.”
-Y-Yura-ya…
Hearing his utterly subdued voice, Yura stared into empty space, her eyes cold and sharp.
“CEO. No—brother-in-law.”
-Hey, don’t call me that privately; it makes my heart race.
Well, if your heart’s racing, maybe stop doing things that make it race.
Twisting her lips to hold back her anger, Yura asked in a voice carefully controlled but taut with irritation.
“Did you request Oh Se Jin yourself?”
-No, absolutely not. He reached out to us first.
That caught her off guard. Typically, concert organizers approach performers directly. While lesser-known artists sometimes initiate contact, someone currently rising in prominence wouldn’t resort to that.
Oh Se Jin was now the hottest name in classical music—someone every concert planner chased after. Especially since he notoriously avoided performing in Korea, agencies were desperate. Argon Art Center had been courting him since last year, so naturally everyone assumed he’d choose them if he ever agreed to a domestic performance.
Yet instead of going to Argon, he’d approached Songrim first. This couldn’t possibly be mere coincidence.
“So you just jumped at the chance?”
-I really agonized over it, I swear. I couldn’t just accept right away—not after everything that happened between you two.
“But you did accept!”
Unable to contain her surging emotions any longer, Yura snapped at his endless excuses.
-Argon was already working behind the scenes to secure Oh Se Jin anyway.
“Hah.”
At his continuing justifications, Yura let out a deep sigh. Jin Ho kept laying out his plight, almost pleading.
-I truly thought it over. But we’re stuck in second place year after year—if we reject Oh Se Jin, it might backfire. And if that happens, Argon ends up benefiting instead.
Yura could somewhat understand Jin Ho’s position. Turning down a performer could easily spark unnecessary rumors, and it might even solidify Argon’s dominant reputation further.
Moreover, Songrim—having entered the concert scene later than Argon—had struggled to overtake them. Though industry insiders widely praised Songrim for closing the gap so impressively as a newcomer, they still weren’t at the very top. That made securing a performer like Oh Se Jin all the more critical.
Still, she wasn’t the only concert planning team leader at Songrim.
He didn’t have to assign this to her specifically. If only he hadn’t, she wouldn’t be this furious.
“Then at the very least, you didn’t have to assign me as the person in charge.”
-Y-yeah. I really shouldn’t have assigned you. But…
“So Oh Se Jin requested me specifically.”
-I’m sorry. I feel utterly ashamed.
Unable to even form a proper retort, Yura just bit her lip. Jin Ho then made one last desperate attempt to persuade her.
-Yura, I’ll make sure he doesn’t cross any lines. Just treat him professionally, and don’t worry about a thing.
Yura had known from the very first moment that this situation was irreversible—she simply hadn’t accepted it yet.
“Alright, I understand.”
She replied in a calm but slightly sharp tone, then hung up. The lingering irritation finally burst out.
“Ugh, how annoying!”

After all, Oh Se Jin coming to Korea specifically to work with her was, in itself, already a clear line crossed.
[This is the timeline separator]Having recently received reports of strange movements, Lee Hyun went to see Jin Ho—but Jin Ho awkwardly shifted the topic and even resorted to the cheap trick of calling Jin Yoo Ra to defuse the situation.
Lost in thought about what to do next, Lee Hyun entered his office, where his secretary handed him a small envelope.
Told it contained urgent materials, Lee Hyun examined the contents with increasingly serious eyes. Inside was a photo of Oh Se Jin stamped with that day’s date—his arrival in Korea. Unsurprised, Lee Hyun let out a derisive laugh.
“Hah, so it really is Oh Se Jin.”
So that explained why he kept sneaking off on so-called “secret European business trips”—to pull off this cute little stunt. Moreover, there was even a photo of him entering Songrim Art Center. Which meant he’d certainly already crossed paths with Jin Yoo Ra.
They might not have met face-to-face yet—but Lee Hyun’s sharp intuition leaned heavily toward them having already met. Staring blankly at the photo on his desk, Lee Hyun drove his letter opener straight into Oh Se Jin’s face in the picture.
“Both of these bastards really have no fear at all.”
