A Light Contract (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 2
Two days before receiving a marriage proposal from Baek Lee Hyun.
Yura Jin, buried under a pile of documents, rubbed her dry eyes and stood up.
Having finished the report, she stepped out of the team leader’s office to check on other ongoing matters. As if waiting for her move, Ji Hye, the youngest team member, hurried over and handed her a printout.
“Team Leader, here’s the schedule.”
“Oh, thank you, Ji Hye.”
Yura Jin walked on, reviewing the densely packed schedule of the upcoming performance laid out in detail right before her eyes. Crossing between staff desks, she stopped in front of Sung Hoon’s desk and asked,
“Sung Hoon, did you notify the production team?”
“Yes.”
Just as her sharp gaze swept across the busy office, observing the smooth progress of things, the phone rang loudly. Eun Young picked it up and raised her voice.
“Team Leader, a courier just arrived.”
“Okay, I’ll go.”
Wearing crisp straight-cut dress pants and high heels, Yura Jin left the office. With snow-white skin and strikingly defined features as if painted with a brush, she drew everyone’s attention wherever she went.
“Hello, Team Leader Jin.”
“You’ve worked hard, Sol Yi.”
She nodded toward Sol Yi from the production team, who was carrying equipment, and her short bob softly fluttered against her jawline.
Yura Jin was the unofficial mascot of Songrim Art Center—so well known that even people from other departments recognized her instantly. Her eye-catching beauty, charismatic leadership, and exceptional work ability made her the object of admiration for everyone.
The only times Yura Jin’s ever-smiling face hardened were when facing their difficult CEO or when locking eyes with that man, just like now.
“Oh my, isn’t that the vice president of CH Group?”
“Yeah! Wow, I’ve never seen him in person before.”
“Amazing. He’s absolutely perfect.”
Female staff passing through the art center’s lobby whispered among themselves about the CH Group vice president’s striking looks.
If Yura Jin was the mascot of Songrim Art Center, then Baek Lee Hyun, CH Group’s vice president, was CH Group itself. He had never failed a single business he’d touched—undefeated in every endeavor—so calling him the apex predator of the corporate food chain was no exaggeration.
Baek Lee Hyun’s face, praised by plastic surgeons as the textbook definition of golden proportions, was every woman’s dream. The phrase most often used to describe him was “contrasting charm.”
His fair skin and dazzling looks earned him the nickname “corporate idol,” while his 190cm frame and broad, athletic shoulders created a strikingly opposite impression that amplified his allure.
Despite being such an impressive man, in Yura Jin’s eyes he was merely her older brother’s friend—a detail that completely blocked any romantic interest she might have otherwise felt toward other men.
Of course, there had been a brief flutter once. But that feeling hadn’t lasted long.
Back in high school, she’d witnessed Baek Lee Hyun coldly reject a girl’s confession. Watching the girl flee with a crimson face, Yura Jin clicked her tongue.
“Aren’t you being too harsh?”
“What do you mean?”
“She must have gathered up so much courage just to confess to you. You could’ve turned her down gently.”
“I don’t like people who claim to like me without really knowing me—only judging by my appearance.”
Yura Jin was momentarily speechless.
“Still, that was way too rude to say right to her face! So full of yourself!”
Having known him since childhood, she was well aware of his icy, cynical nature, which made getting close to him even harder. On top of that, he was a perfectionist who confined himself within rigid plans.
To Yura Jin, he was utterly unlikeable—someone completely devoid of human warmth. People were supposed to make mistakes, occasionally inconvenience others or be inconvenienced themselves—it was part of growing. But Lee Hyun allowed none of that.
“Ugh, he’s not even a robot…”
She wanted to shout from the rooftops that everyone was fooled by his looks—but Songrim Art Center, where she worked, was a subsidiary of CH Group. Moreover, CEO Baek Jin Ho and Baek Lee Hyun were cousins.
In other words, badmouthing him would be like spitting in her own face.
Besides, Baek Lee Hyun was one of those lofty superiors whom Yura Jin had to bow to, whether she liked him or not. So it was best to simply pretend not to know each other and maintain basic courtesy.
As Lee Hyun entered Songrim Art Center, he spotted Yura Jin walking toward him from the elevator area. He didn’t notice her instantly because she stood out among the crowded lobby—although she certainly did.
Wherever Jin Yoo Ra was, his gaze naturally followed her—it had become a long-standing habit of his.
Sometimes he wondered if he had some kind of antenna tuned to her frequency, always locating her without fail.
Lee Hyun’s lips lifted slightly in a barely perceptible smile, unnoticed by anyone. In contrast, he locked eyes with Yura Jin, whose expression clearly showed she wasn’t pleased to see him, and took out his phone to check Baek Jin Ho’s location.
“It’s me. Are you in your office?”
—Even if you’re the head vice president at headquarters, isn’t it proper etiquette to make an appointment first?
“What appointment? We’re cousins.”
—This is a company. It’s a professional setting.
Lee Hyun had come unannounced specifically because Jin Ho had been avoiding him.
“Today’s a personal visit. I’m coming up now.”
Watching Yura Jin draw closer, Lee Hyun ignored Jin Ho’s protesting voice and ended the call.
Trending
The moment their eyes met—his sharp gaze deliberately meeting hers from point-blank range—Yura Jin recalled a shocking incident etched into her memory.
The day she’d visited her cousin Eun Soo, who was married to Baek Jin Ho, she’d happened to overhear a conversation between Jin Ho and Lee Hyun while passing under an arched vine trellis leading to the garden.
“Did you get Jin Yoo Ra hired?”
“Of course. She’s someone’s younger sister, after all.”
“I see.”
“Even without your request, she clearly had the ability to be hired anyway.”
“I know.”
Jin Ho had genuinely respected Yura Jin’s talent—but it was undeniable that Lee Hyun had intervened on her behalf. It wasn’t about whether his influence actually mattered; the very fact that Baek Lee Hyun had personally made a special request for her was what annoyed her.
Who did he think he was, evaluating someone else’s abilities and meddling however he pleased? It infuriated her—how dare he assume he knew anything about her skills and poke his nose in, bruising her pride?
Even if she confronted him, he’d simply insist her hiring had nothing to do with him. Besides, arguing with someone who clearly looked down on her would only waste her emotional energy.
Ever since that incident, Baek Lee Hyun had become someone Yura Jin actively avoided. Just seeing him was unpleasant—a self-centered, arrogant man who never considered others’ feelings.
Yura Jin looked up at Lee Hyun, who had stopped directly in front of her, preventing her from looking away, and subtly furrowed her brow.
“It’s been a while, Team Leader Jin Yoo Ra.”
“Hello, Vice President Baek Lee Hyun.”
Maintaining polite decorum, Yura Jin greeted him and quickly resumed walking.
[This is the timeline separator]Yura Jin, holding a box received from a delivery person and heading back to the planning team, stopped short in front of the office door.
“But who’s the performer scheduled for this year’s second-half concert?”
“Well, upper management’s secretly making contact—it’s supposedly a big name.”
Hearing Team Leader Jung’s reply, Yura Jin nodded in agreement. They needed to prepare for the second-half concert soon, yet the CEO kept delaying. He hadn’t even revealed whether the performer would be a pianist or a violinist.
“Pianist Park Hwi Moon? Or soprano Yoo Young Mi?”
“Could it be that person?”
“Who?”
“You know—the one getting international fame lately.”
“Oh, Oh Se Jin.”
At the sudden mention of that name, Yura Jin’s expression stiffened.
“Yes, Pianist Oh Se Jin.”
“That could be possible.”
CEO Baek Jin Ho, who also happened to be her cousin’s husband, knew very well that she and Oh Se Jin had once been lovers.
He also knew that the abrupt breakup was a painful chapter she desperately wanted to forget—one that had deepened her estrangement from her father and caused her much hardship.
So even though Jin Ho held the final casting authority, Yura Jin was certain he wouldn’t bring in Oh Se Jin.
“As long as it’s not that man, I’ll support anyone.”
Praying desperately that it wouldn’t be Oh Se Jin, Yura Jin opened the office door and stepped inside. At her entrance, the staff instantly scattered, and Team Leader Jung approached her with a warm smile.
“Team Leader, the CEO asked you to submit the progress report documents.”
“Understood.”
Yura Jin placed the box in her desk drawer, picked up the prepared documents, and left the office again.
Ji Hye, the youngest staff member, glanced at Yura Jin briskly entering the elevator and narrowed her eyes suspiciously.
“Our team leader definitely has a special connection with the CEO.”
Hearing that, Sung Hoon rapped his desk to draw everyone’s attention and defended Yura Jin.
“Hey, don’t jump to conclusions. Most team leaders here report directly to the CEO—it’s nothing unusual.”
“That’s true. The CEO is a bit eccentric, after all.”
“But Team Leader Jin is still the only one who isn’t afraid of him.”
Unable to shake her suspicion, Ji Hye’s comment made the other staff exchange knowing glances. Aware that rumors should be nipped in the bud, Team Leader Jung sharply rapped her desk with her ruler.
“That’s enough chit-chat.”
“Yes.”
At Team Leader Jung’s words, everyone returned to their seats.
[This is the timeline separator]Jin Ho fidgeted under Lee Hyun’s piercing gaze.
“What private matter do we need to discuss?”
Avoiding eye contact, Jin Ho stammered.

“How was your Europe trip?”
If casting was Jin Ho’s responsibility, then reaching out to the performer usually fell to the concert planning team leader.
In that sense, Jin Ho’s secretive trip to Europe had clearly annoyed Lee Hyun—especially since Oh Se Jin, Yura’s ex-boyfriend, was based in the exact country Jin Ho had visited.
“This is all for Songrim’s sake.”
“Save the excuses.”
Lee Hyun was far from pleased about Oh Se Jin’s sudden reappearance.
Oh Se Jin surely knew Yura was at Songrim—there was no way he didn’t.
What was his real intention?
“How long are you going to keep watching over Jin Yoo Ra like this?”
Lee Hyun didn’t necessarily desire change—he was merely assessing the timing.
Frustrated by Lee Hyun’s silence, Jin Ho pressed further.
“How many years has it been already—just watching from afar?”
“I’ll handle my own issues.”
“At this rate, another man will snatch her away.”
Lee Hyun let out an exasperated chuckle. Of all people, the one causing this mess was right in front of him.
Just as he was about to retort, a knock sounded at the door.
At Director Kwon’s brief knock and invitation to enter, Yura Jin stepped confidently into the CEO’s office. Jin Ho, seated on the reception sofa, greeted her arrival warmly.
“Come in, Team Leader Jin.”
Male lead is reincarnated to save his wife
I’ve also read this one twice already. The female lead is kinda soft and gets embarrassed easily—not really my type, but the plot is definitely worth reading. Hurry up and read it, y’all!

Intro
When Shen Yuan encountered Su Jin again in his previous life, she had already become the Prime Minister of the current dynasty. As for him, the former top young master of the capital, he had long since fallen into the abyss, becoming a singer on a pleasure boat.
After a song ended, he was redeemed and sent to the Su Residence.
Su Jin respected and cherished him, gave him a roof over his head, and bestowed him with warmth. Shen Yuan fell deeper and deeper, but before he could express his feelings, Su Jin passed away.
Shen Yuan died to follow her in death, but instead, he returned to when he was fifteen years old.
At that time, he was not yet engaged, and Su Jin was just a poor scholar.
Shen Yuan gritted his teeth, casting aside all his pride, and thought of ways to coax and entice her every day.
The colder and more indifferent Su Jin was towards him, the more proactive Shen Yuan became.
He was not afraid of being mocked by the world, only wanting to marry his Wife-master early, to hold her hand and never let go for a lifetime.
[Note: This story will not specifically point out the male lead’s reincarnation time point; it’s all in the details. Whenever you feel that the male lead is acting strangely, he has most likely been reincarnated.]
