“Huh?”

Seeing Kim Cheol Hyun’s bewildered expression, Jae Ho lifted only the corners of his lips into a smile. Something chilling in that smile made his pupils tremble.

“Blood draw. Which arm?”

“Oh, um, here. My right arm…”

“Right arm.”

Jae Ho’s gaze was persistent, as if trying to strip away the man’s shirt to bare his arm. Perhaps he would have even lifted the shirt sleeve himself. How many times might he have touched that arm while inserting the needle?

Would he have smiled gently, eyes crinkling with kindness, promising it wouldn’t hurt?

All while not even letting me come near.

Though it wasn’t the man’s fault at all, his mood grew increasingly twisted. Jae Ho barely managed to relax his fiercely hardened expression as he looked at the middle of the man’s right arm.

“I see. I’m glad to hear your treatment went well.”

After bowing, Kim Cheol Hyun looked forward again, and the other employees began quietly chattering among themselves. Jae Ho dropped his heavy gaze to the floor, hiding his restlessness.

Da Jung’s smile floated hazily before his eyes.

Yet Jae Ho couldn’t visit the in-house clinic the next day, nor the day after. With the restructuring of the strategy room, meetings about the new brand launch, and back-to-back business trips, he barely had time to eat properly—let alone stop by the clinic.

He longed to fill his eyes with Da Jung as much as he wanted at home, but even that wasn’t easy. He kept returning home past midnight, and by then Da Jung was already asleep.
