Just then, the baby moved its hand and wriggled.

“There you go, Mom. Dad. Did you just see that? The baby rubbed its eyes.”

“Does it do things like that too?”

Jae Ho blurted out as if he were springing forward.

Da Jung swore she had never seen him react so quickly—it was as if the words had leapt right out of his mouth.

Jae Ho continued,

“It moved again just now! What’s it doing right now? What’s that white thread-like thing? Is all that black background amniotic fluid? How many centimeters long is the baby right now?”

“Alright, Dad. One question at a time.”

When Ahn Soo Jin glanced at Jae Ho with a hint of pity, Da Jung, still lying down, grabbed his arm. Jae Ho had been stepping forward with each new question, nearly pressing his face against the monitor. He glanced at Da Jung, gave an embarrassed chuckle, and took two steps back.

“Sorry. I’m just curious about everything.”

“You’re acting just like yourself, Jae Ho.”

Da Jung’s hidden fangirl feelings burst through. She wanted her charismatic actor to look utterly dashing in everyone else’s eyes too. Though his fidgety excitement over the baby’s ultrasound was undeniably cute, she worried Professor Ahn might see him as overly impatient.

Noticing her thoughts, Jae Ho smirked, leaned down, and whispered right into Da Jung’s ear.

His breath, disguised as a whisper, rolled warmly over her.

“I’ll be myself. Look forward to it.”
