“Not bad at all.”

These were the first words from the man after he surveyed the pension. He had arrived long before Da Jung.

“Buy first, inspect later. I was in such a hurry to purchase that I’m only seeing it now. Are Units 101 and 102 identical in layout?”

“Yes, they are.”

“It’s a nice building. Worth paying twice the market price.”

He’d proudly claimed it was built with great care—and it truly was. Unlike typical houses, which often use paneling to cut costs, this building was made of concrete. That already earned it a passing grade for safety.

Large floor-to-ceiling windows facing the sea captured both scenery and sunlight. The living room was spacious and high-ceilinged overall.

The open, airy feel provided a refreshing sense of relief. The sofa was a deep blue resembling the ocean, but blended with gray tones to create a calm atmosphere.

Though the structure could be prone to strong draft, high-quality windows compensated for it somewhat. Beyond that, a fireplace had been installed, offering both romance and heating. It was a house that made one look forward to winter even more.

The first room on the ground floor featured a bed and a dressing room together. Behind the bed stood an archway without a door; stepping through led into a small dressing room—just the right size for two people. The bed was a spacious king-size, fitted with a top-tier mattress personally selected by the man.

The bathroom next to the kitchen contained a generous two-person bathtub. Nothing particularly special—just clean and tidy. Had the man designed it himself, he likely would have installed floor-to-ceiling windows here too, allowing views outside. It felt like a missed opportunity. He assumed the original builder must have been rather conservative.

It would have been even better if it had been designed so one could shower while looking out toward the sea.

Though certain aspects clearly clashed with his tastes, overall, it was quite a decent place.

The second floor was charming, featuring a wide terrace facing the ocean, plus an additional small bedroom and bathtub. But since he planned to stay alone, he probably wouldn’t use the second floor much beyond enjoying the view.

Manager Jeong spoke up.

“Sir Lee, Ms. Yoon Da Jung’s party has just passed through the tollgate.”

The man glanced at his wristwatch and said,

“They should arrive in about… thirty minutes. Has the luggage already been unpacked, Manager Jeong?”

“Yes. The crew I hired earlier finished everything. Just in case, would you like to take a quick look yourself?”

“No need. I’m sure it’s been handled well. Then I’ll head upstairs for now. Oh, before that—”

He turned his gaze from the sea toward Manager Jeong.

“Please call the pension manager couple. Da Jung thinks she’s the owner, so I’d like to give her some instructions.”

“Understood. Also, Byung Hoon will stay nearby to provide support.”

“Of course. He’s my manager, after all.”

At that, Manager Jeong gave a small, quiet laugh.

“He’s already complaining about being bored.”

Jae Ho shrugged once and turned his eyes back to the sea. Knowing Byung Hoon’s personality, he’d surely find something entertaining within three days. Even dropped into a desert, that guy would find a way to survive—thanks to his uniquely optimistic nature. Even while grumbling about boredom, he was probably already planning how to make the most of this vacation in his own way.

Manager Jeong gave a light nod and headed toward the front door. Jae Ho followed a few steps behind. Just as Manager Jeong was about to put on his shoes, he turned back as if remembering something important.

“The Chairman’s birthday is coming up soon.”

“…I know.”

“He specifically instructed me to tell you that you absolutely must attend.”

Jae Ho’s expression darkened briefly.

He was well aware of his grandfather’s expectations and understood that, considering the internal dynamics of the group, it was time for the heir to step formally into overall management. Ever since high school, Jae Ho had been carefully following a predetermined path to become Tae Myeong’s successor, living a life meticulously laid out for him.

But that was only his grandfather’s wish—he himself had no interest in it at all. All he’d ever wanted was to become an actor, and he hadn’t abandoned that dream; right after finishing his studies abroad, he became one. He knew his grandfather would be deeply disappointed, yet he couldn’t bring himself to compromise.

Jae Ho wasn’t the type to act without full conviction. Though he respected his grandfather’s wishes and was striving in his own way to find a reason to participate in the business, he still hadn’t found an answer.

He knew why: because he hadn’t fully merged into the Tae Myeong family.

Even though he lived under the Chairman—his grandfather’s—protection and enjoyed everything he desired, he sometimes still felt as if he were wearing someone else’s clothes. That’s exactly why acting felt so right. Achievements earned entirely through his own effort thrilled him to the core—a kind of joy he’d never experienced within Tae Myeong.

“I’ll try my best to attend.”

“He didn’t say ‘try.’ He emphasized several times that you must come.”

Jae Ho gave a faint, wry smile.

“He’ll just say the usual things.”

“He simply has high hopes for you.”

Manager Jeong briefly adjusted his clothes and took a quiet breath.

“Anyway, I sincerely congratulate you on finally meeting Ms. Yoon Da Jung. I’ve told the Chairman you’ve gone on a solo trip.”

Jae Ho, with a complex look in his eyes, gathered his thoughts and nodded. Right now, neither acting nor Tae Myeong mattered. It was time to reclaim the most precious thing in his life.

After Manager Jeong left, Jae Ho remained in the living room for a long while. How much time had passed? He heard the sound of a car crunching over gravel as it entered, so he lowered the blinds halfway and stood at the edge of the window.

Da Jung’s car was bigger than he’d expected. He’d imagined a tiny compact car, but it was an SUV. Just as he was wondering if driving had been difficult for her, a man stepped out from the driver’s seat.

Lee Kyung Jun.

‘That guy came all the way here…’

His clenched fist tightened further.

His eyes still held that same dangerous glint Jae Ho remembered from the past. Kyung Jun casually took her heavy luggage, naturally held her hand, threw an arm around her shoulder, brushed dust off near her neck, and smiled. Da Jung seemed entirely accustomed to all these gestures.

Feeling helpless to intervene, Jae Ho’s irritation simmered quietly. He took a deep breath and exhaled slowly.

No need to get worked up. That guy’s reach ends right there.

How much time had they had together, yet he still couldn’t win her heart and just kept hovering around her? Over the years, Da Jung must have had countless chances to become Kyung Jun’s girlfriend. Jae Ho didn’t need to see it to know. Living in the same apartment complex, they’d surely shared the same hobbies and spent innumerable moments together.

Thinking this actually reassured him. If Kyung Jun hadn’t claimed her by now, he never would. To Yoon Da Jung, Lee Kyung Jun was just a friend.

The elderly couple performed their role as pension owners flawlessly, as previously arranged. They explained the house rules, detailed instructions for using the storage room, and spent a good while going over recycling procedures. Before they realized it, the sun had begun to set. Jae Ho’s full attention was now fixed on whether Kyung Jun would choose to stay the night.

How absurd—it shouldn’t matter this much, yet he found himself desperately hoping.

A short while later, Lee Kyung Jun got into the couple’s car and disappeared. Only then did Jae Ho finally relax his clenched fist. He’d gripped it so tightly that even after releasing it, his hand remained stiff for a while.

They might’ve been childhood friends, but they were full-grown adults now. If anyone was going to draw a line, it would naturally be Yoon Da Jung.

Considering their little argument over the car, it seemed to belong to Kyung Jun—but given he’d deliberately left it behind as a gesture, it was clear Kyung Jun wasn’t the one drawing boundaries.

Maybe that guy had originally come down fully intending to stay overnight, but circumstances got complicated, so he just left. Either way, since he’d ultimately gone, it worked out for the best.

While lost in these thoughts, Jae Ho noticed Da Jung walking toward the beach.

Her long, loose hair fluttered in the breeze. Jae Ho imagined those strands softly brushing against his cheek—like a puppy’s tail, lazy and warm.

As if pushed by the wind, he followed her steps outside.

The sky glowed with a beautiful blend of red and pink, as if someone had sloppily mixed the two colors and spilled them across the heavens. He was glad he’d found this place. In a setting like this, magic wouldn’t seem out of place—even for a moment.

Jae Ho quickened his pace, and fine grains of sand slipped into his shoes, tickling his feet. With each determined stride, he soon closed the distance between them.

Sensing his presence, she turned around absentmindedly. Jae Ho took a short, steadying breath.

Da Jung’s eyes widened in surprise, growing larger and larger—until, unable to widen further, she covered her mouth with her hand.

“The neighbor, huh?”

It was time for magic to happen.

[This is the timeline separator]

The conversation veered completely off course.

“I thought it’d be deserted out here—no other guests. Guess I was wrong.”

Seeing Jae Ho’s gaze land on his slippers, Da Jung, as if under a spell, simply nodded. Looking down at her own feet, she noticed his slippers bore the exact same logo. She still hadn’t fully processed what was happening.

“The neighborhood’s so quiet—I was just starting to miss having someone to talk to.”

“…”

“Since we’ve met like this, how about a cup of coffee?”

Da Jung’s brain slowly began rebooting. Bit by bit, she started making sense of the situation, and her thoughts began turning again. So… the celebrity Lee Jae Ho was right here on this beach.

Why?

“What? No, I mean—wait, what are you saying? No, I mean, why are you here, Lee Jae Ho? Are you filming something? What is even going on right now…?”

Jae Ho let out a soft chuckle. That laugh struck her like an arrow—Da Jung nearly collapsed right then and there.

“Do you have anyone with you?”

“What? Yes! Anyone? Yes. Yes. Of course, I do. No, actually—I don’t…”

Kyung Mi’s and Kyung Jun’s repeated warnings about hiding the fact that she was traveling alone kept flashing through her mind, making her answer a complete mess.

She wanted to say she had company—but at the same time, she desperately wished to make an exception just for Jae Ho.

Lee Jae Ho wasn’t a stranger. At least, not to Da Jung.

“So… you do have someone, or you don’t?”

With one eyebrow playfully raised and a lazy, teasing smile—her absolute favorite expression—Jae Ho drawled the question.

Earlier that year, in the drama *I Loved You Back Then*, which had just ended, that exact seductive smile had appeared often. Da Jung had watched a compilation of those scenes hundreds of times.

“…I’m alone.”

“Then two cups of coffee will be enough.”

Jae Ho started walking back toward the pension. She knew she should follow—but her legs felt buried in sand, utterly immobile. Now that her mind had thawed, her legs decided to freeze up instead.

Jae Ho looked back to check on her. Was that a smile tugging at the corner of his lips? She knew it couldn’t be—but she kept getting the sense he was being unusually kind to her.

“It gets cold after sunset. Come on over.”

Regret With All Your Might (Completed Main Story)

Side Story 5 Side Story 4

When yandere male lead believes she loves him — but she never did

“How dare you!”

“How dare you make me love you, only to cast me aside as nothing more than a friend?!?

“I will never accept that.”

“I will never let you return to him.”

“Even if I have to burn myself to ashes.”

“Even if I must shatter my purity, my dignity, my very soul.”

“I will never let you escape me!”

This was the first novel that introduced me to the matriarchal genre. I’ve read it three times already!

At first, the male lead despised the female lead. Later, he misunderstood that she liked him, so he condescendingly and reluctantly reciprocated her feelings.

Then, he suddenly discovered that she was kind to everyone in the same way, and there was already someone she cherished in her heart, and that person was not him.

The male lead couldn’t believe it, he became angry and crazy. He was determined to capture her body and heart by any means necessary.

Synopsis:

Want to see how a green tea bitch male lead falls in love with the female lead?

Want to see how he flirtatiously pursues the female lead?

Want to see how he gets slapped in the face repeatedly?

The male lead is a green tea bitch, a poisonous lotus, jealous, ruthless, unscrupulous, with a venomous heart, and he’s also a delusional maniac.

The female lead is righteous, positive energy-filled, kind, a holy mother.

Let’s see how two people with extreme personalities come together~

You’re bound to regret it if you skip this novel. Read the review & spoiler to find out what you might be missing!
