And in comparison, the number of Celestials was significantly less.
Even if all the guard units forming a large-scale array in all directions were combined, they were only about one-tenth the number of converging monsters.
“Uh, what should we do? It seems like our side is falling behind too much…”
Romie, in the form of a wolf, spoke to Seolsung, who was standing by her side.
However, she only observed the situation with a relaxed expression.
“Haven’t you mentioned that you have somewhere to go?”
“Yes, but if I get involved in this situation…”
She mumbled and quickly continued, her eyes widening.
“Oh! So, I mean, it’s not that I don’t trust the skill of the guard unit. Although my power may not be great, it’s better to contribute than not at all.”
“You don’t need to explain so eagerly.”
Seolsung chuckled softly and looked at the blushing Romie as if finding her cute.

“Are you worried that your owner might get hurt?”
“Well, th-that’s…”
“If you’re suspicious, it wouldn’t hurt to check with your own eyes.”
With her ambiguous words, a creature at the forefront of the monster group let out a tremendous roar.
“Kwaaah!”
A sound like the scream of a monster from the dark and deep sea.
Along with the resounding noise, a single monster, the size of a house, rushed quickly toward the guard unit.
The creature’s rapid movements created a burst of wind, and disturbed spirits followed it, rushing towards the creature in unison.
One of the guard units, positioned to the right of Haemi, stared at the creatures with a sharp gaze.
Then, he quickly opened his palm, drew a bow almost the size of his body, and an arrow with the shape of golden lightning appeared.

“Whoa!”
Romie, who saw that, involuntarily opened her mouth.
The guard unit smoothly pulled the bowstring, and soon an arrow with a golden light struck the nonexistent arrow rest.
As the distance between the monster group and the Celestials narrowed rapidly, he carefully aimed at the vital point of the creature at the forefront.
As the creature entered the effective range, the bowstring, which had been tightly pulled, made a sound like “ping!” as it released the arrow.
Whooosh!
An arrow surrounded by a large vortex of light flew towards the group, and the tip of the arrow, as long as a long spear, pierced through the head of the creature at the front without any error.
Kukukukugugu!
It wasn’t just one creature that disappeared without a trace due to its overwhelming power.
Starting with the largest one, the bodies of the surrounding disturbed spirits disappeared in an instant, as if melting into light.

When the light annihilated the monsters and vanished, the night sky, which had been like a black canvas, looked as if a giant hole had been pierced through it.
Romie’s mouth could no longer gape open any wider, witnessing the scene without blinking.
“…!”
The creatures around began to retreat in confusion and started to step back.
Of course, it didn’t seem like they would retreat easily, but the intelligent ones among them shielded the lowest-level monsters like shields, forming a defensive posture.
Although a tense atmosphere clashed, compared to the guard units with almost no change in expression, there was definitely a sense of tension among the monsters.
Seolsung looked at the scene and spoke to Romie.
“Feeling relieved after seeing it in person?”
“Uh… Well, th-that’s…!”
“The guard unit faced an enormous number of monsters during the selection process.”
“…”

“With the assumption that they are dealing with such low-level monsters, the individual strength of the guard unit is roughly at a level of 1 to 100.”
Nonchalantly sharing the incredible story, she soon asked with a compassionate voice.
“Were you trying to visit Baek Nojin?”
The startled Romie stumbled in her speech, her expression revealing a pierced heart.
“H-How did you know?”
“Baek Nojin was an excellent blacksmith in the Celestial Realm, but at the same time, he was the best instructor for maximizing the combat capabilities of Celestials in the shortest period.”
“…”
“In a situation where a big fight is imminent, I thought that a loyal Celestial like you would naturally think of him.”
Seolsung smiled gently and patted Romie’s head.
“Relax and go. A big war will start soon.”

Upon hearing that, Romie widened her eyes and saluted.
“Yes! Then…”
She bowed her head and said goodbye.
“Take care of our master until I return!”
Having said that, Romie disappeared into the black night sky with Seolsung’s farewell.
She ran with the maximum speed she could muster.
Her white and sleek fur fluttered roughly in the wind.
There was no time to spare.
Since Baek Nojin moved his residence periodically, it was uncertain when he might disappear again. Therefore, she needed to meet him as soon as possible to enhance her capabilities.
‘You can step on ants whenever you want.’

‘Even if you know the mastermind, nothing will change.’
The words he uttered on the day she discovered Sinhwi’s true identity lingered in her mind.
Although she had been thinking about visiting Baek Nojin, now that she had seen the true nature of the Celestial Guard Unit of Uguhk, she realized that she couldn’t delay any longer.
Haemi, the leader of the formidable guard unit with tremendous combat power.
Sinhwi, who stood against Haemi on equal grounds.
But such a powerful being was not a king but a king’s subordinate.
‘Just how monstrous is No Jitae?’
The mere thought sent shivers down her spine, and as a monster, his strength was beyond words.
So she needed to become stronger.
Rather than idly waiting like a fool, she had to do whatever it took to become stronger, even if it meant using any available means.

Only then could she, in times of crisis, sacrifice herself if needed to buy time for San.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
