Seo Yeon’s pupils trembled as though an earthquake had struck. Even as she stood in shock, Sung Jun did not pull away. Instead, keeping his lips pressed against hers, he fixed his deep black eyes on her, capturing every fleeting expression on her face.

Meeting his intense gaze, the trembling she had tried so hard to suppress spread throughout her entire body.

Flustered, Seo Yeon took a step back to push him away and raised her hand—just then, the intercom rang.

Sung Jun finally pulled away from Seo Yeon. An awkward silence lingered briefly between them. In the next instant, his gaze, which had been locked intently on her, shifted toward the intercom.

‘What on earth is going on? What just happened?’

Seo Yeon stared blankly at Sung Jun’s retreating back as he strode away without offering any explanation for his actions.

All the while, despite her own will, her heart pounded wildly out of control.

—Director, this is Park Jin Sung. I’ve picked up the food you ordered from the restaurant earlier—may I come up now?

Sung Jun parted his tightly pressed lips and replied,

“Yes. Come on up.”

Seo Yeon took a deep breath in and slowly let it out. Her husband would turn around any moment now, yet she had no idea what expression she should wear when facing him.

Should she confront him and demand why he did that? Or should she wait until he spoke first? As Seo Yeon stood there, anxiously weighing her options, Sung Jun turned toward her just then.

“Let’s eat first.”

“……!”

At his indifferent words, Seo Yeon’s eyes widened.

Unlike her—whose heart was racing painfully—his face remained utterly composed.

Facing him, she suddenly felt confusion and betrayal swiftly spreading through her chest. She couldn’t shake the thought that his incomprehensible whim had toyed with her.

Why had he suddenly changed like this?

In her previous life, he had hurt her by seeing other women besides her—but at least his behavior had been consistent.

Before getting drunk and spending that one night with her, he had rarely even held her hand. No—in fact, meaningful conversations between them were so scarce she could count them on one hand.

So why this sudden change?

‘A flirt.’

There was only one possible conclusion.

She didn’t know his motive, but clearly her husband had now extended his advances toward her as well.

‘A lecher!’

Seo Yeon’s eyes sharpened once more as she looked at Sung Jun.

She couldn’t even begin to guess why he—who’d ignored her completely before—had suddenly acted like this, and the rising emotions inside her became impossible to suppress.

‘I’ll just pretend it never happened.’

She was determined to treat it as if it had never occurred, convinced he wouldn’t even care—when the sound of the front door opening interrupted her thoughts, and soon after, Jin Sung entered.

“Oh, it’s so cool inside.”

Fanning himself as he stepped in, Jin Sung spotted Seo Yeon and greeted her with a bright smile.

“Hello, Madam. Driver Park is here.”

Snapped out of her reverie by his voice, Seo Yeon belatedly offered a full smile in return.

“Welcome. It’s been a while.”

Perhaps it was because he had always treated her kindly from start to finish—just seeing him somehow made her smile unconsciously. Jin Sung, however, looked bewildered.

“Oh? Oh? Yes… It really has been a while.”

At first, Seo Yeon mirrored his confused expression, but she quickly realized why—

In the past, she’d been so burdened emotionally that she couldn’t even spare kindness for those around her, let alone smile; she had always worn an expressionless face.

“You said you haven’t eaten yet, right? You must be really hungry. When I packed the food earlier, I noticed the quality was exceptional. Just wait a moment—I’ll set everything up quickly.”

“No, Jin Sung. Let me do it. Hand it to me.”

While the two were gently arguing, Sung Jun approached. Lightly taking the shopping bag from Jin Sung’s hands, he headed toward the dining room.

“Jin Sung, have you eaten yet?”

“Oh—! Actually… I haven’t eaten either. But don’t worry—I already got something for myself earlier, thanks to the Director. I’ll just eat in the car downstairs.”

Hearing Jin Sung’s answer, Seo Yeon’s eyes widened in surprise.

“In the car?”

And before she knew it, she murmured, sounding baffled.

“That’s absurd.”

Jin Sung was practically like a younger brother to Sung Jun.

They had grown up together in the same house as children, and later, when Jin Sung failed to find a job and tearfully confided in him, Sung Jun—who had always driven himself to and from work—had even created a position just to hire him as his driver.

‘How could he even consider making someone so close to him eat alone in the car? What on earth is Sung Jun thinking?’

No matter how strictly he separated work from personal matters, this simply defied Seo Yeon’s common sense. Her eyes narrowed slightly.

‘It’s because he’s cold and self-willed.’

Combined with his shameless behavior toward her just moments ago—and his casual dismissal of it as if nothing had happened—she felt even more resentful.

Resolving to intervene if her husband showed any sign of discomfort, Seo Yeon spoke up.

“Don’t do that—since you’re already here, just join us for the meal.”

At her suggestion, Jin Sung’s face brightened visibly, clearly pleased.

“Is that really okay…?”

But at the same time, he glanced cautiously toward where Sung Jun stood, clearly wary of his reaction.

“Come in.”

After observing the two with a faintly displeased expression, Sung Jun finally gave his reluctant permission. Jin Sung dashed into the dining room immediately—as if afraid Sung Jun might change his mind—and Seo Yeon followed behind.

At first, her invitation had been an impulsive gesture out of sympathy for Jin Sung eating alone in the car, but in hindsight, it was fortunate.

Had they been left alone, the atmosphere would surely have grown even more awkward after what had just happened—and she, already boiling inside, would definitely have erupted at her husband sooner or later.

While Seo Yeon sorted through her thoughts, the three of them began their meal.

“Wow. This tteokgalbi is seriously delicious.”

Jin Sung, chopsticks in hand, let out an exclamation of awe. It wasn’t just empty praise—every dish was flawlessly perfect.

She even thought she might have regretted it had she missed this lunchbox today. They enjoyed the meal happily for a while, until Jin Sung spoke again.

“Right? People’s reviews don’t lie! All that effort searching for a good restaurant really paid off. Hyung—no, Director.”

Sung Jun’s eyebrow twitched.

“Park Jin Sung.”

After frowning slightly in momentary confusion, Sung Jun opened his mouth in warning. Jin Sung blinked innocently, prompting Sung Jun to continue, his expression stern.

“Are you here on a break? Keep your mouth shut and just eat quietly.”

Instantly, Jin Sung’s shoulders slumped in dejection. Surprised by Sung Jun’s irritable response, Seo Yeon quickly defended him.

“Why are you being so harsh on Jin Sung? I actually like chatting while eating. You, Sung Jun, clearly hate conversation—just go eat alone if you want, and we’ll talk amongst ourselves.”

“Oh. Should we?”

Jin Sung immediately brightened again, as though he’d never been crestfallen.

“Director, you just focus on your meal.”

“…….”

In contrast, Sung Jun scowled, clearly uncomfortable—and the look he cast toward the two of them was far from friendly.

Inside, however, Seo Yeon snorted dismissively.

For some reason, today of all days, she absolutely refused to take her husband’s side. Not even once.

“Oh—I remember now!”

At that moment, Jin Sung—who’d been intently focused on his food—suddenly looked up at Seo Yeon and exclaimed.

“I’ve always thought Madam looked familiar every time I saw you—but whenever I tried to recall who exactly you resembled, it slipped my mind. Just now, though, it hit me!”

“……?”

“Olivia Hussey!”

“……What?”

Seo Yeon’s mouth fell open at Jin Sung’s sudden declaration.

“There was this incredibly beautiful actress my father adored when he was young—I never saw the movie myself, but she starred in *Romeo and Juliet*. You look just like her, Madam!”

And as his shamelessly effusive praise continued without end, Seo Yeon flushed with embarrassment.

Though she often heard she was beautiful, this was the first time anyone had openly gushed about her looks in such an overwhelming way—and Jin Sung, as usual, remained completely oblivious.

“She was the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen… but now that I look again, Madam might even be more stunning! Right, Hyung?”

He even capped his speech with the ultimate compliment—that she was the most beautiful woman in the world—and sought Sung Jun’s agreement.

Seo Yeon wished she could vanish into the nearest mousehole.

“Olivia Hussey?”

And as if to prove a point, Sung Jun picked up where Jin Sung left off—making her face grow even hotter. His gaze settled intently on Seo Yeon.

“I’ll need to look closely to see if you really resemble her. Are you truly that beautiful?”

Teasingly, Sung Jun began scrutinizing her face as if evaluating it. Apparently, he intended to humor Jin Sung’s ridiculous comments and make her even more uncomfortable.

“Don’t. Sung Jun.”

Seo Yeon warned him sharply.

“I told you to stop.”

But Sung Jun deliberately held her gaze. Their eyes locked briefly in the air between them.

“…….”

At first, his eyes seemed sincerely focused—but the next moment, they flickered slightly. Though embarrassed by the situation, Seo Yeon nonetheless found herself waiting, oddly curious—and even faintly hopeful—for his answer.

“……You look like a frog.”

“……!”

That hope crumbled instantly at his single remark. Clearly, he was mocking her for having cried earlier.

“Thanks. I’m so flattered you think I resemble a cute little frog.”

Since she’d half-expected such a retort, Seo Yeon snorted derisively—while Jin Sung erupted in vehement protest.

“That’s ridiculous! Where in the world do you find a frog this beautiful!”

But Sung Jun merely clenched his jaw in silence, his expression troubled, offering no further reply.
