Seon Ah received Na Eun’s call on her way home from work.

“Oh, Teacher Na Eun!”

After three attempts, Na Eun had finally been accepted into veterinary school, completed her two-year pre-med program, and become a first-year student in the main course this spring. Although they couldn’t meet often due to the school being located outside the capital, the two—both devoted New Stars fans and close like older and younger sisters—still chatted daily over messaging apps. “Teacher Na Eun” was Seon Ah’s playful nickname for Na Eun, referencing that she’d become a veterinarian in a few years.

“This Sunday—Teacher Na Eun, you’re coming too, right?”

Asked cheerfully by Seon Ah, Na Eun practically screamed into the phone, breathless.

—Unnie, did you see the news article?

“What article?”

—It’s just…!

After blurting it out, Na Eun suddenly hesitated.

—Hang up and go check the internet news section.

Wondering what on earth could be going on, Seon Ah hung up, immediately opened her browser, and as soon as she entered the news site as Na Eun instructed, the headline of the very first article she saw read:

Five full years after their debut, New Stars had become global superstars. Just recently, their final album, “Last Dance,” had even topped the Billboard album chart.
