When Eun Seo returned home after work, a short elderly man was pacing around the yard. He was none other than Butler Kim, the very person she had seen in the video.

She recognized him immediately, but of course couldn’t acknowledge him. Pretending not to know who he was, Eun Seo approached with a deliberately wary expression and asked,

“Um, excuse me, but who are you…? I was told the landlord would be coming by today.”

“Oh, you must be the tenant, ma’am. My apologies for the intrusion.”

The man bowed politely. Though dressed like an ordinary rural farmer, his long experience as a butler naturally lent him an air of dignity in both manner and speech.

“I’m an acquaintance of the homeowner. We came together to look at the house briefly, but he suddenly had to leave, so I’ve been waiting here.”

Eun Seo felt puzzled. Had Seung Joo gone out alone while meeting with that man?

“Where did he go?”

Butler Kim looked at Eun Seo with a slightly puzzled expression—as if questioning why she cared. After all, it was none of a tenant’s business where the homeowner went during a brief house visit.

“To be honest, I’m also an employee of Dae Won Construction. I intended to greet the CEO when he arrived.”

When she pulled out her employee ID from her pocket, Butler Kim’s expression finally softened.

“Oh, I see. Now that you mention it, I completely forgot—the young master mentioned yesterday that you were close to the tenant.”

“So, where did the CEO go?”

“I’m not sure. He suddenly rushed off in the middle of our conversation and hasn’t answered his phone since… I was waiting in case he came back.”

Since they’d planned to meet around lunchtime and it was already evening, that meant he’d been gone for several hours. Eun Seo felt a wave of unease.
