Peaceful days passed by.

When I woke up late, Jena brought in a plate piled high with freshly baked bread, crisp fruits, and vegetables, asking if I’d gotten up yet.

After finishing my meal, I changed clothes, received a check-up from the Doctor, and then spent the rest of the day relaxing comfortably.

Usually, Ael’s main task was to pick a book from the mansion’s enormous library and read it quietly in her room or the greenhouse until evening.

Perhaps it was due to the habit of working constantly for so long.

Even while reading a book and snacking on sweet fruit, Ael would suddenly be overwhelmed by fear.

‘Is it really alright for me to live like this?’

How many times in her life had she ever received kindness without expecting anything in return?

At most, when shopping, someone kind-hearted might toss in an extra apple—but that was the limit of truly free kindness.

That was why the comfort she now enjoyed made her uneasy.

It felt as if receiving such enormous generosity meant she’d eventually have to give something equally huge in return.

The problem was that she had nothing to give.

‘That’s why I wanted to do some work, at least.’

Recently, Nisha and Ino had started visiting the mansion frequently again.

Whenever they emerged from Calon’s room, their faces were so pale they looked as if they might collapse at any moment.
