At those words, Calon’s expression turned as if he’d just swallowed a mouthful of spoiled milk, and he glared at Lasis.

Anyway, even though it wasn’t a scheduled day for regular contact, the underground communicator had activated.

When Calon hurried down after receiving the report, he heard the other party’s voice, even more distorted by static than usual.

〈Ah, connection… I tried contacting you just in case… couldn’t find the right direction… but once I do…!〉

It was a communicator that, even with the Emperor’s power, could only be used once a week—and it was clear Lasis had forced its use through his own Golden Rule.

If it had merely been heavy static, that would’ve been acceptable, but right after those words, the connection was completely severed. The staff member in charge of the communicator clutched his head and sighed.

〈It seems the communication network has been cut off.〉

They investigated further, but the result remained the same. The other side’s desperate attempt to contact them had severed the fragile link painstakingly established between the Empire and their location.

Calon ground his teeth. Back in the Empire, the Emperor was probably stepping on Lasis in his stead.

Meanwhile, Ino came downstairs and asked if there was anything else he needed to do, saying the cleanup upstairs was nearly finished.

After hesitating briefly, Calon brought up Ael’s account and made a request to Ino.

Truthfully, it wasn’t absolutely necessary for Calon himself to go when opening Ael’s account. However, he’d personally arranged everything in advance with the bank for a specific reason.

‘I was just curious.’

Ael, having learned she could open an account in her own name, couldn’t hide her delight.
