Calon led Ael to a room at the far end of the corridor on the top floor. The moment he opened the door, Ael let out an involuntary gasp.

“Wow…!”

As the door opened, a gust of wind carrying the scent of the sea rushed in. Before Ael’s eyes appeared the sight of a beautiful room.

Through the open balcony doors, sheer curtains fluttered gently, revealing a panoramic view of the harbor and the sea.

“I hope you’ll find it to your liking.”

“Surely I’m not meant to work here?”

At those words, Calon’s expression grew serious.

“Yes. I had the largest desk specially brought up. If, by any chance, this place doesn’t suit you….”

“No, that’s not it at all! Am I really allowed to work here? In such a wonderful place?”

Ael looked around the exquisitely decorated room.

She had seen rooms like this before in magazines Elise occasionally read and then discarded. It reminded her of the luxurious hotel rooms recently opened near the harbor.

Moreover, there wasn’t just one room. Calon opened the door in the center of the room, revealing the space beyond.

“This room was originally reserved for important guests of the Ash Trading Company, but no one is scheduled to stay here for the time being, so I had it freshly prepared yesterday for your work. If you ever feel tired or need a rest while working, please use the adjacent room. I’ve left the sofa and bed there as they were.”

Listening to Calon’s explanation, Ael could only blink in astonishment.

The view beyond the balcony was already breathtaking—what was this room even supposed to be?
