Calon’s long fingers tapped on the desk.

Spread out where his gaze fell was a section of the newspaper people had been reading often these days.

It was an article listing numerous events and festivals held for the summer, along with places ideal for visiting with family or lovers.

This was the very newspaper Tessa and Jena had been holding.

The two girls, having bumped into each other in the hallway, chattered incessantly, seemingly overjoyed about something.

Ino had once grumbled that with their noise, he couldn’t tell whether this place was a trading house or a candy shop.

Nisha had laughed and replied, “Well, thanks to them, the otherwise dull atmosphere of the trading house gets a bit livelier.”

Normally, Calon would have simply walked past them regardless of their chatter—but his steps halted when he heard Tessa exclaim, “Aelfrida would love to come too!”

Though Calon stood quite close by, the two girls remained utterly oblivious, completely absorbed in the newspaper they held.

“But the young lady has been busy commuting to the academy lately.”

Jena, who handled everything else well, stubbornly refused to stop calling Ael “young lady.”

Perhaps she didn’t even want to change that habit.

“Still, if you begged her, Jena, I think she’d spare a day or two. If someone studies too much, their mind goes strange. We don’t even need to go far—La… No. There’s no point talking about that person anyway. But since it’s a greenhouse open only in summer, I’m sure she’d like it.”

“It’s true our young lady does love greenhouses, but…”
