Ael sat up and perched on the edge of the bed. Then she looked down at her own hands.

Anything feels less difficult the second time you face it after having experienced it once. The Golden Rule was no exception.

In the past, she would have thought of them as merely empty hands, but now she could sense a faint power moving within them.

The Golden Rule was not a visible force. Yet Ael felt as though a golden wind rippled within her palms.

All of them had been winds created by her Golden Rule.

Ael raised both hands to her chest and focused her mind.

She gathered every last remnant of her power, much like picking up grain after grain of sand on a beach. Just as she thought she’d finally built a small mound after a long while—

Her hair fluttered in the wind, though the windows were tightly shut.

“Huh!”

At the same moment, a crushing pain seized her chest, shattering her concentration. The tiny sandcastle in her imagination instantly scattered in all directions, returning to mere grains.
