“What kind of nonsense are you spouting!”
“For $200, anything goes with that woman, and you’re interested in my private life?”
Bill showed a vile smile. Siyoon had no desire to hear Bill’s sordid tales.
“You can’t even muster the strength because of drugs, what private life!”
“What are you talking about!”
Bill’s voice trembled thinly.
“If you’re caught again, you won’t escape prison.”
“Did she tell you? She shouldn’t know that. Just like that!”
Bill unwittingly confessed his drug use, which Siyoon had only guessed.
“Don’t you dare talk nonsense!”

Siyoon’s face turned menacing, tightening his grip on the collar. His thumb naturally positioned over the carotid artery, applying pressure.
Bill, already intimidated by Siyoon’s charisma and believing the stereotype that all Asian men know martial arts, felt terrified as his breath was cut off.
“Sorry, my mistake. Let go and talk.”
Bill begged with clasped hands, a pitiful sight. Where had his bravado from moments ago gone? When Siyoon released him, Bill clutched his chest, gasping for breath.
“Huff, huff, huff.”
“If the police don’t know yet, it’s just a matter of time. Keep messing around if you want an early jail sentence.”
“I’ve stopped using drugs. Don’t worry, really.”
Siyoon scoffed at Bill’s words.
“Who’s worried about someone like you!”
“Right, of course.”

Bill was jittery in front of Siyoon.
“Either come to apologize, or stay away from me and don’t show up again. Choose.”
“Sorry, I won’t do it again. Tell Miju too.”
“If you dare call her with that disgusting pronunciation again!”
“No, I won’t. Sorry.”
Bill repeated his apologies, quickly retreating.
Siyoon told Bill to apologize to Miju, but he didn’t want them to meet again. He didn’t want Miju to recall the unpleasant experiences on the yacht, and more importantly, if Bill’s words about a secret meeting with Miju were true…
Siyoon cringed at the thought, furrowing his brows and pushing the hospital door open. He saw Miju still being treated inside.
‘What am I worried about?’
Deciding to be emotionless for the moment, Siyoon reassured himself that even if Bill’s words were true, it wouldn’t be an issue.

‘After all, I’m the one who proposed an immoral contract marriage. Who am I to judge anyone’s morality!’
But the anger was uncontrollable.
Bang!
Siyoon’s sudden punch startled those around him. He raised his hand in a brief apology for the outburst.
Miju had become a trigger for Siyoon, making him lose his usual calm and composure. The realization that he had believed Bill’s contemptible words about a mole made him chuckle to himself.
‘That damn mole, I can just check it myself.’
After leaving the hospital, the two went to the car repair shop for a consultation and then moved to a nearby restaurant.
The server guided them to a window seat with a nice view, and they ordered their food.
Since leaving the hospital, Siyoon had been unusually quiet, seemingly lost in thought.
Miju, sensing a stark contrast to Siyoon’s demeanor from the morning, felt a severe shift in the atmosphere.
As they sat down to eat, their ordered food arrived. Miju forced a bright smile.

“There’s too much food for us to finish.”
“Don’t worry. We can handle it.”
Siyoon began to eat voraciously, cutting into his steak with robust appetite.
‘How did I end up dining with someone who’s at once the most and least manly?’
Miju realized the absurdity of their situation and waited for the right moment to bring up the contract discussion.
Sensing her thoughts, Siyoon wiped his mouth and broached the subject.
“Shall we talk about work?”
Miju choked on her food, caught off guard. Siyoon quickly handed her a cup of water. After regaining her composure, she looked at Siyoon.
“Sorry for bringing up work during the meal.”
‘Work. Yes. That’s all this is to him.’

Miju thought back to the morning’s kiss and realized that even that might have been just a rehearsal or part of a job for Siyoon.
‘He likes men. Even if he doesn’t have someone now, if he ever finds someone he loves… Wouldn’t I be the safest option?’
With such a proposition, substantial money usually changed hands. No family to disappoint with her choice, only her own guilt to bear.
“What benefits would I get if I agree to this contract?”
Siyoon leaned back in his chair, putting down his cutlery, and answered simply.
“Money.”
Hearing money first was a direct hit to Miju’s vulnerable spot, her financial struggles.
She wanted to storm off, but the word ‘money’ was desperately significant to her.
‘Yes, I need the money.’
Clutching her fists under the table, Miju raised her head.

“How much will you give?”
“Write down the amount you want.”
Siyoon pulled out a tablet and opened a contract file, densely packed with tiny letters.
‘When did he prepare such a detailed contract? Or was it ready to be presented to anyone?’
Miju was simultaneously amazed and frightened by Siyoon’s bold initiative. She stared at the contract then looked up at Siyoon.
“Do you know how much I’ll write?”
“Do you know how much I have?”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
