Once the door closed, Baron lightly flicked his fingers. Simultaneously, the shattered dishes returned to their original state, and the tomato sauce smeared on his body disappeared as if washed away.

“So, is that why you accepted her as your disciple?”

“I did actively recommend her for that reason.”

Baron sighed.

“Once we arrive at Dilohana’s territory, I think you’ll sort out your thoughts. After all, considering everything, that’s the best option.”

“Hmm.”

“So, Belucci, don’t be too gruff and treat Cordelia well.”

“I think I’m already treating her well.”

“Hah. Yes. Maybe expecting more is too much. I’ll go in first.”

“Hmm, the smell of the sea.”

“If you fall in, I’m not saving you.”

“That’s okay. Roti will save me, right?”

Of course, Roti just yawned lazily, not even wagging his tail.

Cordelia leaned over the ship’s railing, deeply inhaling the briny sea air. The sharp sea breeze caressing her cheeks was incredibly fresh and cool.

Luckily, the weather was very good, and the ship was large enough that Cordelia didn’t suffer from seasickness she had worried about. The sails billowed with the wind, propelling them towards the Wilas Islands.

“But, Master, what about those people in those clothes?”

Cordelia glanced at people wearing flowy robes, huddled in groups, chatting. They stood out with their distinctive attire.

“Judging by the color of their robes, they must be apprentice magicians.”

“There’s specific attire for magicians?”

“You only wear that when you’re young. Once you reach intermediate level, you don’t wear such things unless there’s a ceremony.”

“By the way, I wanted to ask, how are magicians categorized? I heard there are higher levels.”

“You don’t know?”

“You never told me. You always dismiss me when I ask, and you never explain.”

Cordelia grumbled, squinting her eyes. Baron kindly explained.

“Magicians are considered apprentices until they formally complete a covenant ceremony.”

“Oh, then I’m not an apprentice since I’ve done the ceremony.”

“That’s correct. Your case is quite exceptional. Usually, apprenticeship lasts at least ten years.”

“Ten years? Do you have to do it for so long?”

“Hah. Ten years is short. Most don’t even get promoted to low rank and quit.”

“But why quit midway? That’s a waste.”

“Because they can’t handle magic.”

Leonard abruptly commented. Cordelia couldn’t easily understand this.

The first thing she learned after becoming his disciple was how to handle magic. Cordelia asked with genuine curiosity.

“Why can’t they?”

“My point exactly.”

“Isn’t it just about moving it with will?”

“My point exactly.”

Uncharacteristically, Leonard vehemently agreed with her.

Baron, about to add ‘that’s actually very difficult,’ decided not to, knowing they wouldn’t understand.

“Once you’ve completed the covenant ceremony, you become a low-rank magician, able to introduce yourself as a magician to others. That’s when you start learning magic in earnest.”

“Ah, I see.”

“Intermediate level can be reached with some talent and hard effort. But beyond that, effort alone isn’t enough. That’s why most magicians get frustrated and don’t go beyond intermediate.”

“Those who surpass that barrier must be incredible. So, Master, are you a high-rank magician?”

“No.”

Baron proudly boasted as if talking about his own child.

“Above high-rank magicians, there’s another level. The one who governs the stars, Sirius. Master was the youngest ever to become a Sirius.”

“Wow.”

“How about showing more enthusiasm in your surprise?”

“Wow!”
She repeated her exclamation with the same expression as before, just dragging it out a bit longer.

“Alright, enough.”

“But even though Baron explains it so earnestly, I can’t grasp what it really means. It just seems like that’s the way it is. Anyway, Master, you’re the highest there is?”

“The highest among the Sirius?”

Even Belucci rolled his eyes at her expression. Baron tried to add more explanation about the Sirius, but Cordelia’s attention was soon stolen by other things.

The sight of seagulls flying near the bow was fascinating, and it was also astonishing to see the huge ship move forward relying on the wind.

Leonard commented from behind.

“Shall we go in?”

“Just a moment. I want to watch a little more.”

Cordelia thought of her life as a tangled thread. Since her birth, it was a mess, and she resigned herself to never being able to untie that tightly bound thread, no matter what she did.

Even when her father’s verbal abuse became sharper and eventually turned into physical abuse, even when Cordelia was sold for five hundred thousand Ringkits, she knew nothing but to comply.

Perhaps if Craig Abrams hadn’t fallen from his horse, she might have lived her entire life in that castle.

But then Leonard appeared out of nowhere and casually cut her tangled thread, handing her the end of it.

Her first thread.

To her, life after meeting Leonard felt like a thread severed from the past, an incredibly precious thread she could never afford to lose.

Cordelia moved forward, cherishing it.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
