Of course, Cordelia omitted the part where being able to see magic power is useless if she can’t use it properly.

Belucci snorted with disdain.

“So what if you can see a bit of magic power? What’s so great about that?”

“Master said it’s incredibly significant. Oh, but you wouldn’t understand magic, would you, Belucci?”

His lips twitched, probably wanting to retort harshly. The fact that he didn’t immediately react as he did yesterday suggested he had been firmly warned by Leonard.

Belucci finally regained his composure and said,

“Master is whimsical. Once he loses interest in things or people, that’s the end. He just throws them away.”

“Is that so?”

“When that time comes, I’ll cut you into pieces and scatter you across the fields. Look forward to it.”

He said mockingly. Cordelia sweetly replied with her hands tightly clasped.

“If Belucci gets discarded first, I’ll make sure to cut him into pieces and scatter him across the fields too. Oh, and since you like feeding dogs, I’ll call them for you, don’t worry.”

Her considerate response must have touched him as a weird noise erupted and part of the door broke. Cordelia didn’t even glance that way.

“He never runs out of things to say.”

“Of course. I learned it all under Master’s tutelage.”

Belucci glared murderously at Cordelia, then vanished without a word.

“My goodness, was that Lord Ingrian?”

Emily, who had come to serve, recognized Belucci’s back and her eyes widened.

“You must be really close. He came to visit so early in the morning.”

“Indeed. I didn’t expect an early morning greeting like that.”

Cordelia shrugged, looking in the direction he disappeared.

“By the way, the Countess has invited you to a formal dinner tomorrow.”

“A formal dinner? Suddenly?”

“Yes. I heard it’s to celebrate Master’s recovery.”

Bold of Helena to plan this with Jared glaring daggers. Or perhaps it was intentional, doing it right in front of Jared.

“She insisted that Master attend as well.”

“Me?”

“Yes.”

“I doubt he’ll listen to me.”

“Sorry? What do you mean?”

“Nothing.”

Cordelia shook her head, wondering if Leonard would really play along with Helena’s tune.

So, when she mentioned Helena’s dinner to Leonard and he agreed, she was taken aback.

“You’re going? Why?”

“To clean up.”

“Clean up?”

“I told you, we need to clear out the dirt. Can’t keep it this filthy forever. Oh, and invite that Jared or whatever too.”

“Jared Abrams too?”

“Yes. Bring all those who have complaints against me. It’s tiresome to hunt them down one by one.”

Cordelia didn’t quite grasp what he meant but understood he had a plan.

Consequently, she relayed through a maid that she and Craig would attend the dinner.

It had been a long time since such a formal dinner was held.

There hadn’t been an opportunity since Darren Abrams, the previous Count, passed away and Craig had his accident.

Cordelia was the first to arrive in the dining room. Soon, others began to gather.

Helena, Lily, and Arnold arrived together. Lily seemed about to say something to Cordelia seated at the table, but Helena hushed her with a “Quiet.”

‘What’s this about?’

Before she could ponder further, Baron Lancaster and Jared Abrams took their seats.

Only one seat was left empty.
Not long after, the main character everyone had been waiting for entered as the door opened.

“Looks like everyone’s here.”

Leonard briefly scanned the people already present. Then, an uninvited guest also appeared.

“Oh, Lord Ingrian.”

“Good evening.”

“…I don’t recall inviting you tonight.”

“So I came by myself. It seemed like the Abrams family prefers proactive guests.”

Belucci replied smoothly with a grin. Helena’s face crumpled in a strange way at the unexpected guest’s arrival.

Then, Arnold whispered something in her ear, and Helena regained her composure, smiling lightly.

“…I must have neglected to treat you as a guest. Please, have a seat.”

“Thank you, Countess Abrams.”

A servant brought a chair and plate for Belucci.

Soon, the meal was served, and everyone began eating quietly. Around the time the main dish was being served, Helena opened the conversation.

“Today’s gathering is not only to celebrate my son, Craig’s, recovery but also to discuss an important matter.”

“An important matter?” inquired Baron Lancaster. Helena responded with a significant smile.

“I’ll reveal it towards the end of the meal. But first, let’s properly welcome our esteemed guest.”

“Ah, right. Allow me to introduce myself formally. I am Dean Lancaster. May I have the honor of knowing your name?”

Dean turned towards Belucci as Helena prompted.

“I am Belucci Ingrian.”

“I’ve heard much about your fame. You won last year’s equestrian competition, and even the King praised you as incomparable.”

“The King often praises too generously.”

Surprisingly, Belucci continued the conversation like a normal person. Cordelia, knowing his real nature, internally snorted.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away

This is also on my reread list!

This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.

Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.

But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.

Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.

I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.

The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.

As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
