Despite her fervent prayers, Craig’s breath remained stubbornly attached the next day and the day after. It was a monotonous repetition of daily life, until she noticed his fingers slightly twitching.

“Huh?”

Cordelia rubbed her eyes, disbelieving what she saw.

“What’s wrong?”

“His finger. Did you just see that? It moved.”

“I’m not sure.”

The maid skeptically examined Craig’s hand, but his fingers showed no sign of movement.

“I must have seen it wrong.”

“It’s possible if you wish it hard enough.”

Emily dismissed it lightly with a laugh.

However, the next day, Cordelia witnessed Craig’s fingers moving again, sadly with no other witness as the maid had gone to fetch water.

Startled, Cordelia hurried to his side.

“Craig?”

“Uh…….”

He even let out a groan. Seeing him awakening brought a mix of joy and disappointment… No, actually, more disappointment. His life was persistently hanging on.

But Cordelia concealed her frustration and mimicked a dutiful wife.

“Craig, are you conscious?”

“Krhhk.”

After several painful groans, Craig barely opened his eyes. Gradually, focus returned to his blurry pupils.

“……Di?”

“Yes?”

“Wh, krhhk, where is this?”

“We’re at the estate. Do you know you’ve been out for over five months? I should call a doctor right away.”

Cordelia reached for the bell to call the maid, but his next question made her arm stiffen.

“What’s my name?”

“What did you say?”

“What is my name?”

Helena screamed when she heard that Craig Abrams, who miraculously woke up after five months, didn’t remember his own name.

“This can’t be!”

She immediately summoned five renowned doctors, but they all shook their heads.

“I’m sorry. We’re not sure about this case….”

“Fix him back to normal now!”

“I’m truly sorry, Countess.”

The doctors were at a loss, bowing their heads. Helena paced anxiously around the sofa.

“No, this can’t be happening. I can’t lose the estate to someone else. This is what I’ve built!”

Despite her efforts to keep it under wraps, the news of Craig’s condition quickly spread. Those eyeing the lordship saw this as an opportunity, as a fool couldn’t be the lord. If word got out, every distant cousin and relative with a drop of Abrams blood would claim they were the rightful heir.

For Helena, this meant becoming an outcast, penniless and expelled from the estate.

On the other hand, Cordelia’s eyes sparkled at the doctor’s diagnosis.

‘A fool, a fool!’

Heaven hadn’t completely abandoned her. She quickly thought of a way to escape this hellish existence.

“Lady Mother, let me talk to Craig.”

“You? Why?”

“Yes. We are husband and wife after all. Maybe if I frequently talk about the past, his memory might return.”

“Ah, that sounds feasible.”

Thankfully, one of the doctors supported Cordelia.

Helena, who would normally ignore her, was desperate now.

“Good, you can be useful at times.”

Helena’s face lit up. She instructed Cordelia earnestly.

“Make it quick. Those hyenas won’t stay put.”

“Don’t worry.”

Cordelia smiled sweetly as she left the room, then quickly headed to her own.

“Where is it? It must be here somewhere.”

Cordelia frantically searched her drawers for the item she had carefully hidden.
“Ah, found it!”

The crumpled parchment roll exuded a musty, aged smell.

[Divorce Consent Form]

Cordelia was relieved she had obtained this just in case. The only blank space needed was her husband’s signature.

Grinning, she carefully clutched the document and hurried to Craig’s bedroom.

‘Dying would have been better, but being a fool isn’t bad either.’

If she could gently coax him into signing this paper while he remembered nothing, she could gain a substantial alimony and her freedom.

Maybe then, she could fulfill her long-held dream of opening a small shop.

Cordelia, holding the document dearly, entered Craig’s room.

The maid guarding the room bowed deeply to Cordelia and then left.

“How do you feel?”

Cordelia sat down beside his bed, smiling as kindly as possible.

“Terrible.”

Craig looked down at his limp body with disgust and muttered.

“Still, waking up is a joy. Every morning, I prayed to the dawn star, begging for your awakening…”

“My name.”

“Pardon?”

“Your name, what is it?”

Craig coldly cut her off.

Cordelia, who was fabricating lies effortlessly, quickly put on a remorseful expression.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I forgot you’re not fully recovered. My name is Cordelia, your wife.”

“And your maiden name?”

“Vasquez.”

“Vasquez, huh. Pearls before swine.”

He looked her up and down with a sneer, more like appraising an object than the lecherous gaze she once knew.

‘He’s completely changed since he woke up.’

It wasn’t like the old Craig at all. Cordelia found it odd but didn’t make much of it.

“Where is the Abrams estate located?”

“You don’t know where?”

“Which region is this estate in? Never mind, if it’s tucked away in some backwater, I wouldn’t know the name anyway. What about the nearest of the eight noble families?”
