Without even a moment to rejoice at the news of her pregnancy, Seo Yoon burst into tears again upon seeing the wound on Kang Hyun’s arm, and only much later did she finally make her way to the obstetrics examination room.

Following the obstetrics professor’s instructions, Seo Yoon lay down under dim lighting and stared at the monitor.

“Hmm, you’ve just entered your sixth week. Right here, you can see the gestational sac and yolk sac. The embryo has implanted very well.”

“Yes, yes.”

“Go ahead and get up comfortably. I’ll let you hear your baby’s heartbeat. It’s quite fast, so don’t be startled. Shall I call your husband in?”

“Yes!”

Adjusting her uncomfortable posture and pulling down her skirt, Seo Yoon smiled as she saw Kang Hyun entering the ultrasound room behind the nurse.

“Here it is—the baby’s heartbeat.”

Seo Yoon, who had imagined a cute little heartbeat like “thump-thump,” opened her eyes wide at the sound resembling someone furiously drumming on a tiny drum.

It felt utterly miraculous that the heart of a bean-sized baby was beating more passionately than an adult’s.

“Oppa.”

Seo Yoon let out a soft giggle.

Kang Hyun, standing there blankly as if his soul had left his body, looked slightly ridiculous to her.

“Please go outside, fill out the intake form, and then proceed with the necessary tests. It’s also good to check your blood pressure and weight regularly.”

“I will.”
