Ji An, frozen like a statue, boarded the cable car under the intense gazes of the two staff members assigned to guide her.

“We’ve already contacted the staff at the summit so you can board right away without waiting. Please enjoy your time.”

Leaving behind the staff bowing deeply at the waist, the round cable car began to move slowly forward.

As the door automatically closed at the departure point, they were left alone in a space completely cut off from the outside world,

sitting side by side high above the ground, growing ever more distant from the earth beneath their feet.

It was the narrowest space Ji An had ever shared with Kang Hyun—and perhaps the most intimate.

All the way here, Ji An had pictured only the snowy landscape awaiting her beyond the window, and now she felt a slight urge to cry.

Beside her, Kang Hyun gazed out the window as if utterly unaffected.

Her heart, reacting to every little thing like a teenage girl experiencing her first love, felt unbearably heavy.

“You must be cold.”

Kang Hyun glanced disapprovingly around the cable car—obviously unheated—and took off his coat, draping it over Ji An’s shoulders.

“Why do you keep taking off your clothes?”

“This time, I only took off my coat.”

Kang Hyun flapped the sleeves of his suit jacket, its buttons left undone.

Unlike yesterday, when he’d stubbornly insisted on removing both coat and jacket entirely, now he seemed almost like a child seeking praise for holding back—making Ji An smile.
