Ha Joon, annoyed with Kang Hyun’s fastidiousness, glared at him before shoving the wrap into his mouth.
He found everything about Kang Hyun disagreeable – from his taller stature, even compared to Ha Joon’s above-average height in the police force, to his tailor-made suit and seemingly effortless affluence.
In the midst of the stiff atmosphere, Kang Hyun’s unique demeanor of turning a rude tone into a courteous one further irked Ha Joon. Essentially, Ha Joon found Kang Hyun’s perfection and success annoying.
Ha Joon was irritated by Kang Hyun’s sudden emergence and lingering around Ji An, despite the complicated situation.
“Do you drink, Executive Kang?”
Roughly opening a bottle of soju, Ha Joon poured it into a beer glass instead of the usual soju glass.
“Let’s drink from the same glass.”
Ji An, who had been staring blankly, snapped back to reality seeing Ha Joon handing Kang Hyun a beer glass filled halfway with soju.
“Hey, Ha Joon! Are you crazy?”
“Should I drink it all at once?”
“Executive Kang!”
“That’s bold.”
The clinking of their glasses in a trivial ego battle was light, yet both quickly emptied their glasses. Watching them, Ji An felt nauseous, as if a bitter taste lingered in her mouth.
After swiftly finishing a bottle of soju, they ordered another and filled their glasses similarly.
“Have some side dishes, Ha Joon. You too.”
Ji An gave up on stopping them as they seemed set on continuing until one of them collapsed.
“Make me a wrap.”
“Alright.”
Worried Kang Hyun might fall ill due to not eating properly, Ji An readily picked up a lettuce leaf.
“Me too!”
“You just ate, Ha Joon. Let’s be fair.”
Kang Hyun turned his head askew towards Ha Joon, who was eagerly challenging him.
“No, that’s not it!”
The absurdity of Kang Hyun complaining about giving Ji An food that fell but then discussing fairness over the wrap Ha Joon had eaten exasperated him.
“Drink.”
Kang Hyun, holding the wrap Ji An gave him, smiled leisurely and filled Ha Joon’s glass first.
“You know it’s already the third bottle, right?”
“I’m fine. Tell me if it’s hard for you, Ha Joon.”
“Of course not.”
Ji An, ignoring her age, shook her head while watching Kang Hyun and Ha Joon boast in a show of alcohol pride.
“I’ll go to the restroom.”
Ji An, who had been picking at the generously laid-out food, wiped her mouth with a wet towel and got up. Kang Hyun and Ha Joon immediately looked up, watching her leave the room.
“Executive Kang Hyun.”
“Yes?”
“I know roughly about your entanglement with Ji An and the accident. It’s regrettable. But I hope you don’t make unreasonable demands on Ji An just because she looks like your deceased lover.”
Ha Joon, slightly flushed, confronted Kang Hyun directly with his long-held concern.
“Is that concern as a friend?”
“Do you see Ji An only as the twin of your deceased lover?”
Both harbored similar feelings and perspectives towards Ji An, making it easy to understand each other’s intentions. Kang Hyun did not regard Ji An merely as a twin, and for Ha Joon, Ji An was more than just a friend. Their actions towards Ji An revealed a depth of affection that transcended mere friendship.
“Shall I answer first?”
Kang Hyun, tapping his glass filled with clear liquid, gulped down the sharp alcohol in one go and spoke.
“I like Ji An very much.”
Despite consuming a significant amount of alcohol in a short time, his mind didn’t become hazy; instead, it seemed to clear up.
Like the current Ji An, he had only hovered around the lukewarm emotions that were enough to wither the once bright Seo Yoon, experiencing wild fluctuations in feelings but never landing anywhere.
Having lived as a selfish monster, his irreversible past was destined to remain as shackles around his ankles. The only answer he could discern in this pitch-black path was one.
Indeed, the only thing left at the end of this tiresome wait would be regret anyway.
Struggling with profound guilt, suffocating him like a tight noose, something that had remained unsettled since Seo Yoon’s return from the dead finally reached a conclusion.
There couldn’t be a worse ending than death, so he resolved to pour out the love he hadn’t been able to give, however he could.
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
