“Is there any change from the request you made last time?”
“No, we want to meet the employees who will be in charge of the job directly.”
On behalf of Kang Hyun, who was displeased and silent, Seok Won continued the conversation.

“Ah, there are two people who will be guarding behind Seo Ji An. The one at the desk over there… She seems to have stepped out for a moment. The other one is over there, on the sofa.”
“A man?”
“No. There, the lollipop. The man next to her is her husband.”
The man said to be the husband, who had been roughly grabbing her by the back of her head, was now holding the woman who had a candy in her mouth in his arms, patting her back.

“You do not need to doubt our ability. You may or may not have seen the news related to the KoreanChinese community a few months ago, but we were in charge of that case.”
“Is that so? Executive, should I write up a contract?”
Seokwon, who slowly nodded his head, subtly asked, but Kang Hyun did not answer and simply stared intently at the couple occupying the multiseater sofa.

“Honey, when you finish sucking the candy, we’ll go home.”
The oddly mismatched tone and affectionate nickname didn’t register in his ears.

Only the man’s gaze toward his wife captivated him.

Could it be that such a thing is felt as love in the looking gaze?

Had I ever looked at Seo Yoon in such a way?

Why was I…

Why was I born like this…

Kang Hyun turned his head, letting out a chuckle.

His dry eyes, devoid of any moisture, were clearly reflected in the transparent glass table.

Remembering Seo Yoon, who was tired of enduring his gaze, caused his heart to ache.

Today, after finishing work safely, Jiaan, who was off work, spotted a familiar figure passing through the main entrance and hurriedly jumped through the automatic door just before it closed.

“Mom!”
“Oh my, you surprised me! Are you just getting off work?”
“Yeah, mom, you’re home early? You usually work until dinner time.”
“Huh? Uh, I had something to take care of…”
Jung Hye, who had visited about half a dozen local real estate agents before returning home, stumbled over her words.

“I don’t know what to do, I’m sorry, my son and daughterinlaw will come in all of a sudden. It would be nice to talk early, wouldn’t it? I got a call yesterday. It seems work is not going well these days.”
The landlord, who until last year had promised to renew the lease, suddenly came to the side dish store and delivered the news out of the blue.

The lease agreement was until this year and there were less than three months until the expiration date.

Although she made an effort to find a new place to move into right away, the local market price had more than doubled and the money they had, even excluding the lease deposit, was not enough.

“Is something wrong? Are you not feeling well?”
“I’m feeling unwell.”
She had to tell Jian as well, but for some reason, she couldn’t get the words out.

She felt guilty for only causing trouble for the newborn baby, who could have gone to a better family.

The medical and rehabilitation expenses that could not be resolved with insurance money were left as debt, and Jian always felt sorry for it.

She did not want to burden him further.

“Mom, your face is pale. Let’s prepare some herbal medicine, your daughter now works at a large company. I make good money.”
“That’s okay, you eat.”
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
“I said I’m fine. Is there anything you want to eat? I’ll tell your father to come home early and let’s grill some meat that our daughter likes?”
“That sounds good, but wait…”
Jian, who had removed her hand from Jung Hye’s arm, took out her ringing cell phone from her pocket.

“Yes, Executive.”

“President? Why?”

Jian, who was speaking with her lips wide open, waved her hand at Jeong Hye and stepped back a bit.

—Is it okay to talk on the phone?
“Yes, go ahead.”
—There might be a few things you’ll need for the eve of the event tomorrow.
“What do you need?”
—Not me, but Seo Jian.
“Me?”
What do I need?

Jian, who didn’t understand Kang Hyun’s words, opened her mouth slightly and tapped her crumpled skirt with her hand.

She had prepared a few neat blouses and Hline skirts on her way to work, but they were costeffective items that didn’t consider the brand.

Even when she carefully looked inside her closet in her mind, she couldn’t think of an outfit to wear at an event where senior executives were networking.

It was a world of difference from Han Seo Yoon’s dressing room, where boxes of unopened famous brands were piled up like mountains.

“Ah… Do I need something like a dress?”
—It’s not that formal of a place. Don’t go to work tomorrow, come home in the afternoon.
“Yes, I understand.”
Jian took the phone away from her ear and let out a sigh.

“Why are you sighing? Straighten your shoulders.”
Before she knew it, Jeong Hye, who had come close, pulled Jian’s sagging shoulders back.

“No, let’s go up.”
Even as she pushed Jeong Hye into the elevator with a forced smile, her worries increased.

She had no proper jewelry, bags, or even a pair of shoes, let alone clothes.

It was depressing to face the reality that she hadn’t even bought a decent bag by this age without flaunting a luxury brand.

Every time this happened, she despised and resented her preamnesia self.

Today, more than ever, Jian, who had put on a dress that looked somewhat better in the terrible closet, checked her outfit before getting off the elevator.

She received all kinds of compliments from her twinklingeyed father and mother, as if she had an important appointment in the evening, but it would have been a relief if she didn’t shave Kang Hyun’s face at his first event after his return.

Ding, the stopped elevator door opened and Jian, who had entered the corridor, took off her shoes and headed to the living room, glancing at the strangers bustling in and out of the wide open entrance.

And when she saw three hangers taking up a large space, she opened her mouth wide.

In front of the hangers, shoes and bags were beautifully displayed by brand, and even a glass showcase with wheels shone on one side.

Is this a department store or a home?

“What… What is all this?”
Jian stood upright in front of Kang Hyun sitting on the sofa, her eyes blinking.

“It’s for you, Seo Jian. I thought you might need it to attend the event.”
“…Are we going to have the event for ten days?”
What ten days, it looked like there was enough to wear, carry, and put on for more than a month.

Ignoring the stunned Jian, Tae Kang Hyun, as usual, firmly closed his mouth.

When male lead is the homewrecker

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.

Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.

The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.

I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.

There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.

For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.

I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Here’s the story synopsis:

One-line summary: She is his lifelong obsession, to the point where he was willing to be a third wheel, scorned by society, just to wedge his way into her relationship with her fiancé.

Cold-hearted and indifferent female lead + Scheming and subservient CEO male lead

Intro 1:

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

With blood trickling from his clenched fist, Rong Xiu gazed at the woman before him, his eyes clouded with anguish. Hidden in the wardrobe, he had witnessed Fan Xia – the woman he desperately loved – in an intimate embrace with her fiancé. Yet his heart still yearned for her, defying all reason.

Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.

In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.

Because he had discovered the truth – Fan Xia wasn’t the pure angel everyone believed her to be. And perhaps, he was the only one capable of helping her execute her mysterious plan…

Intro 2:

Rong Xiu’s biggest regret in life was missing out on Fan Xia.

He secretly loved Fan Xia for 7 years.

Watched her go public with her boyfriend.

Watched her kiss her boyfriend at their wedding.

Until that man blissfully nestled in Fan Xia’s arms, obtaining everything he could only dream of.

The crazy jealousy stripped away his hidden secret love, layer by layer, burning like wildfire.

Fan Xia, how can I have you!
