He stared at the paper that was becoming crumpled in all directions until it lost its words and just blinked.
Am I happy now, or am I sad?
Or just absurd.
Even at a moment like this, he wanted to tear up his insufficient brain that couldn’t grasp his emotions.
“It’s been 4 years. How did he live as that person with different fingerprints?”
“Have you used fingerprints in 4 years?”
“……No, not at all except when registering for a lock.”
“That’s right.”
The conversation completely disappeared and the sighs continued like a round song.
“I didn’t recognize Seo Yoon.”
What he found after searching somewhere was selfloathing after all.
No matter how out of my mind I was, no matter how similar their faces were, it was something that shouldn’t have happened.
“When I couldn’t be sure of the existence of the twins. It’s normal to think of Miss Seo Yoon. How could you suspect that it might be someone else in that situation? It’s not your fault, sir.”
“It was strange that a simple hitandrun perpetrator wasn’t caught.”
The increasingly serious Yeon Joo opened a bottle of water to moisten his dry throat.
“If my father had arranged it.”
Kang Hyun suspected the chairman, who died as the perpetrator of the accident.
“Speak sense. You fell because you were shocked by the accident.”
“I wouldn’t have known that I would get hit too.”
It sounded plausible as it came out of his mouth and laughter slipped out.
If one didn’t have money and power enough to change the lives of two people, it would have been absolutely impossible. At that time, Chairman Tae Seok Jung, who was desperate to get Seo Yoon out of the way, could have done it.
“I will start over from the beginning.”
“Where did Ji An go?”
“Home.”
Kang Hyun mumbled quietly.
Home, where Seo Yoon lived, was me.
“What are you going to do from now on?”
“I don’t know.”
“Kang Hyun.”
“Go.”
“I will stay.”
Leaving behind worried glances, Kang Hyun entered the bedroom and sat down, hugging a portrait of Seo Yoon that had been worn out by constant touching.
He was alone again.
The voices drifting in from outside disappeared, and the sunlight piercing through the curtains was buried in the dark shadows.
Even in the dark, Seo Yoon’s face was clearly visible. He wasn’t sure if it was because he had seen her face so much that it had been etched into his brain.

His finger slowly stroking the glass along her wrinkled eyes trembled weakly.
“How much must you have hated me.”
The memory she left behind was the time she spent with him.
It seemed that she didn’t want to live as Seo Yoon of Tae Kang Hyun anymore.
As he calmed his mind, the realization that Seo Yoon was alive hit him.
A deep sense of relief, and a loss of the same magnitude, rushed to melt his throat.
He thought of Seo Yoon, living oblivious of herself for a moment.
“Mom, I love you.”
Maybe in the way she wanted most. Seo Yoon, who was smiling with utter happiness.
Seo Yoon, who is living as Seo Ji An, was bright. Just like young Seo Yoon when she first came to Seo Won’s house, she expressed herself without holding back with various expressions.
The remnants of the past that were drying up in the prison called Tae Kang Hyun had disappeared as if washed away.
It didn’t take long to accept the fact that Seo Yoon found rest after scratching herself out of her memory.
The heat that rose up his throat pressed against his eyes, but still, there were no tears.

Even when a bleak reality hit him in the face, Kang Hyun didn’t know how to express it.
She had never screamed out loud, never howled like a beast, so she had shoved thousands of piercing glass shards into her insides that were already rotting unrecognizably.
“Why can’t you… give up on anything, brother?”
“I want to go somewhere, anywhere without you. I really want to break up, I don’t want to live like a doll anymore. So please let me go.”
A hollow laugh slipped through her sealed lips. Every repeating moment, Seo Yoon was in pain, and every repeating moment, he was a selfish monster.
Perhaps it was better if the memories didn’t return.
He didn’t have the courage to repeatedly confirm that Seo Yoon’s love had ended and that she wanted to leave him.
Marriage was a problem too, but Seo Yoon was already sick and tired of his abnormal, twisted actions.
“Brother, just a moment…”
“No time. Follow Secretary Kim to Singapore in two days.”
“Again, just stay in the hotel?”
“Yes, come out with me. I’ll have a guard outside, so don’t do anything foolish.”
He took Seo Yoon with him on his long business trips abroad, but he had only kept his promise to set aside time for sightseeing a couple of times.
He was merely fulfilling his desires at late hours when she couldn’t go anywhere, and from some point, Seo Yoon began to belittle herself as a lowly being.
Because he had missed her all the time while they were apart. He enjoyed the warmth of Seo Yoon, and the feeling of being intertwined.
Only after four years did he realize the wounds that had been accumulating due to words he hadn’t uttered.
He wanted to tell her that he loved her.
The words he wanted to say to Seo Yoon after enduring for a few more months had finally lost their owner.

Perhaps the fact that you were not there waiting for me was a despair worse than death.
Unable to cry or laugh, Kang Hyun, who had been sitting for a while, muttered faintly.
“Just need to be alive.”
Yes, just need to be alive.
Kang Hyun slowly rose his heavy body and opened the door.
“Executive Director?”
“I’m going to return to the office, get ready.”
Seok Won, who had been sitting guard in the living room in case Kang Hyun had bad thoughts, awkwardly rose from the sofa.
“…Are you okay?”
“Bring out the hospital records from the hospital I mentioned before, no matter what. Drag the hospital director in front of me if necessary.”
“Yes, I understand. And for Seo Ji An…”
“Don’t show anything. Catch the culprit first, everything else comes after.”
Even my life and death come after that.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
