After a storm had passed and Seoyun lay on the hospital bed, she gently tapped Kanghyun’s arm, who was staring into space.

With tired eyes, the two looked at each other and burst into laughter without any need for words.

“We really looked foolish.”

“As you said, I almost fainted.”

Getting up to cut the umbilical cord after receiving the doctor’s call about the baby’s birth time, Kanghyun momentarily couldn’t catch his distorted vision and stumbled.

Fortunately, he managed to cut the umbilical cord safely and also took a photo of Seoyun holding the baby Joon.

Although they easily completed the tasks assigned to them, looking back, they seemed quite inadequate.

Seoyun, who had cried for the birthing room to leave when she thought she would die like this, was also embarrassed.

“Oppa, do you want to see Joon first? They say visitation is allowed.”

“No, I’ll see him with you tomorrow. You’ve been through a lot.”

“You too.”

Kanghyun, who handed Seoyun a hot porridge after smoothing her disheveled hair, playfully commented, “The cute belly is gone.”

Kanghyun stood Seoyun’s lying bed at an angle, fingering her visibly reduced belly.

He felt a bit sad that the bulging belly he used to caress every day had disappeared.

“Instead, Joon is out.”

“That’s right.”

Tap, tap.

As Seoyun, holding a spoon, halfway finished the cooled porridge, those who had been anticipating her childbirth rushed into the hospital room.

“Oh, you’ve been through a lot. You really worked hard.”

Jung-hye and Do-cheol comforted Seoyun with teary eyes, while Ha-jun and Seon-kyung bought sweet macarons and fed them to Seoyun.

Latecomers Seokwon and Yeon-joo joined, and watching the noisy group, Kanghyun sent everyone away, saying they should go home after seeing Joon.

It was for Seoyun’s condition, who had just given birth and was receiving nutritional supplements.

Back in the now quiet hospital room, the couple spent the day chatting and went to the newborn nursery the next morning, in time for the visiting hours.

Seoyun handed the nurse a prepared baby gown and a blanket and stared blankly at Joon inside the glass.

“So small. He seems much smaller than other babies.”

“He was born a bit small.”

“Since he takes after Oppa, there won’t be a problem with height, right?”

Smirking, Kanghyun nodded.

Although he confidently replied in front of Seoyun, a lingering anxiety still remained in Kanghyun’s heart.

Just like his appearance, he worried a bit that Joon might resemble his childhood self too much.

After finishing his convalescent life at the hospital, Kanghyun returned home with Seoyun and baby Joon, almost a month later.

“Mom and Dad’s bedroom. Joon will sleep here for a while, but as time passes, he’ll live in his room.”

Speaking incomprehensible words to the baby who was blinking its eyes, Kanghyun introduced the house.

Looking at Kanghyun, who took care of the baby better than expected, Seoyun, with a raised mouth, sat on the living room sofa and unpacked.

Soon after, Kanghyun also took a seat on the sofa.

“Our hospital colleagues say Joon is really gentle. They’ve never seen him cry properly.”

“He used to cry a lot.”

Kanghyun supported Joon’s neck and gently shook his arms.

The eyelids of the newborn, who repeated eating and sleeping, gradually drooped.

“He only cries when he really needs to. When he’s hungry, uncomfortable in his diaper, and when he’s sleepy. A perfect newborn.”

“Maybe he’s quiet like you.”

“Well, I can’t know how I was when I was a newborn.”

Shouldering the meaning behind Seoyun’s gaze, Kanghyun placed Joon on the baby bouncer just before falling asleep.

When he turned the mobile hanging on the bouncer, Joon, who had been fussy for a while, quickly closed his eyes.

Kanghyun immediately returned to Seoyun and placed her in his arms.

“You seem to have studied hard.”

“That’s to make you comfortable.”

After a long time, Kanghyun, clinging to Seoyun’s back like a cushion, also enjoyed a pleasant rest.

Having not yet decided on a definite career path, Seoyun decided to go outside and learn various things.

She took classes for basic necessities like TOEIC and quickly attainable certifications, and enjoyed various hobbies.

Although she took on the position of CEO at Seowon Construction, Kanghyun had long since withdrawn from the overall management of Seowon Group.

Having appointed a professional manager for key positions in Seowon Group’s management and relinquished the rights and duties of the major shareholder, Kanghyun decided to take parental leave.

From 9 am to 4 pm, Kanghyun’s solo parenting began when Seoyun left the house.

“Tae Joon, why are you crying again?”

The baby who couldn’t speak would burst into tears without any specific reason.

No matter how mild, he was now a baby who had just passed 100 days.

“Gently, hush.”

The tears shed early in the morning signaled the desire for a diaper change.

Laying Joon on the changing table, Kanghyun skillfully turned the mobile, completing the task.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away

This is also on my reread list!

This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.

Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.

But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.

Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.

I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.

The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.

As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
