It felt like sitting naked in a freezing gorge—the atmosphere was so cold it chilled me to the bone. This chill wasn’t between Riley and Rivne, but between siblings.

“If you’re going to act like that, just call off the marriage.”

“It’s not your marriage, so mind your own business.”

“Aren’t you already enough of a scandal yourself? Calling you a foolish husband who can’t even protect his own wife… If it were me, I’d have stormed the press office like catching rats and shut everything down before the article even ran. Gibnen brushed off Rivne’s insults as if they meant nothing.

Because of this, Riley, stuck between them during dinner, felt utterly miserable.

She was so dazed she couldn’t tell whether her food was going up her nose or down her throat—listening to them, it wouldn’t have been surprising if someone flipped the dinner table right then and there.

“Don’t make a scene. Just handle things properly so another scandal like today’s doesn’t happen again.”

“I’ll handle it myself, so stop meddling. Besides, you share plenty of blame for how things turned out.”
