Kajahn gestured with his eyes for her to swiftly pull away the cloth, then laughed aloud with evident pleasure.

“What are you waiting for? Open it already.”

‘Surely… surely not!’

With trembling hands, Riley carefully lifted the white cloth and opened the square-shaped coffin lid. She screamed and hurled the lid away, and immediately afterward, Kajahn burst into hysterical laughter like a madman.

“Hahaha!”

Inside the coffin, reverently placed, was what appeared to be Van’s head. Though battered and scarred from beatings, the overall facial features unmistakably belonged to Van. Riley clutched her head and wailed, while Kajahn personally lifted the head from the coffin and shook it before Riley’s eyes.

“How is it? Do you like my gift?”

Ah, Riley sank to the floor and sobbed. She stared for a long while at the cleanly severed head, then wept uncontrollably as if unable to believe it.
