Hearing the Second Prince’s words, which sounded like a shy confession, Amy’s face crumpled in discomfort.
“Oh, that’s a bit…”
She shuddered as she recalled the incidents that had unfolded when the Crown Prince had taken a liking to her in the past. If there was one thing she had learned from her horrific near-death experience in her previous life, it was that she must never, under any circumstances, become personally involved with the prince she served.
“Huh?”
The Second Prince looked doubtful, thinking he had misheard. Amy quickly changed her expression and spoke gently.
“Then, Your Highness, until you find someone more precious than me, I’ll take care of it for you.”
“Uh… What?”
The Prince blinked blankly and then his eyes widened.
“No, Amy, that’s not what I meant…”
“Oh, look at the time! Your Highness, we must hurry. We need to leave the palace soon.”
“Eh? Oh, alright. But Amy…”
“There’s no time now. If you have something to say, we can talk later.”
Amy pushed the Second Prince out of the kitchen as if she was shooing away a dog. The Prince, flustered, was quickly ushered out.
Thud. The door closed, and Amy leaned against it, letting out a silent sigh. Behind her, she could hear the Second Prince hesitating before he finally retreated to his chamber.
Amy muttered to herself.
“I can’t go back to that chaos again.”
Her tone was as if she was making a firm resolution to herself. She felt grateful and sorry for the Second Prince, but she couldn’t be responsible for his feelings. It was better this way. She should nip it in the bud. There was no need to repeat the tragedy that happened with the Crown Prince.
‘The Second Prince isn’t ungrateful like the Crown Prince was.’
She had felt it before, and her recent time with him had confirmed it. The Second Prince was someone she could trust. Amy intended to repay the favor of him causing her regression, but she also didn’t want to waste her second chance at life by being reckless.
‘It’s best to keep work and personal life separate.’
She was determined not to make the same mistake again.
With these thoughts, Amy limped to the counter, gathered the leftover food onto a plate, and put it on the table. Then, as if possessed, she began shoveling the food into her mouth, eating hastily.
The sun was slightly tilted to the west. It was time to leave. Amy stood at the palace entrance with the Second Prince, looking anxiously outside. It was past time for their departure, and she was uneasy.
“Amy? When are we leaving?”
“Just a moment.”
Amy craned her neck, looking towards the main palace. Her heart sank with disappointment. ‘Could it be a failure…’
Then, in the distance, a cloud of dust arose. Several horses were galloping towards them. Amy’s eyes widened as she watched, and as the horses neared, she quickly straightened the Second Prince’s posture and also stood upright.
Heeheeheeng. The splendidly dressed guards in silver armor arrived and halted their horses. They dismounted and strode over briskly.
The Second Prince looked tense, as if intimidated by the guards’ imposing figures.
“Stand straight.”
Amy whispered, standing erect. The Prince flinched and then stood proudly.
‘I’ll have to thoroughly train him in the Imperial Command.’
Amy looked at the Prince determinedly. Now that she had decided on this path, she couldn’t let the Second Prince be underestimated by others.
‘Especially since the Crown Prince is already grinding his teeth.’
Knowing she had been reborn after dying in her previous life, Amy wasted no time. She immediately went to the Empress to resign (the Empress welcomed this with open arms) and, upon gaining her freedom, volunteered to be the steward of the Second Prince. The palace, suffering from a chronic shortage of staff, enthusiastically welcomed the arrival of a skilled worker.
All of this happened while the Crown Prince was on his overseas tour. How furious he must have been upon his return and learning what had transpired. It was surprisingly not Amy who sent him back when he stormed into the Second Prince’s palace to take her away.
“Are you, a person of such high stature, threatening a mere woman?”
The Second Prince’s words left the Crown Prince speechless and even more enraged. The sting of rebuke from a brother he had always looked down upon and despised must have been intolerable.
“Stay out of this, you’re just a child.”
“That will be difficult. Amy now belongs to me.”
For someone who had always kept a low profile, the Second Prince’s words were surprisingly sharp. Not only Amy noticed this; the Crown Prince’s face hardened as he realized his brother’s defiance.
“How dare you…”
“My apologies. I was concerned that if people found out about this, it might tarnish Your Highness’ reputation and Amy’s. That was my only intention.”
Blinded by anger, the Crown Prince had rushed over without thinking. Only then did he realize the potential scandal his actions could cause. The tense standoff between the two was diffused by Amy.
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
