“What are you doing? I can walk. Besides, your shoulder…”
Suddenly, I was lifted up, almost as if being embraced by him. The unexpected contact was startling, but Carl seemed unfazed.
“It’s better this way. We can’t wait for you to walk in case another accident happens.”
I was more anxious about the fallen potion bottle than the physical contact.
I glanced down discreetly, curious to see if the potion’s color had changed again.
“Celeste?”
Carl’s gaze followed mine to the floor.
“My legs are fine! I can walk, really.”
I pushed against his chest, prompting him to reluctantly set me down due to his injured shoulder.
“Where’s the carriage?”

As soon as my feet touched the ground, I shielded the spilled liquid from his view. My obviously flustered demeanor must have seemed suspicious, but given the situation, he seemed too preoccupied to notice.
So, I slowly took one step, then another, deliberately delaying to observe how the potion with his blood would react.
And after about five steps, I looked back.
The liquid that had absorbed the blood and turned red was once again clear.
There it was. The father of the child.
The Urentum police station, usually so tranquil, became a scene of chaos in an instant.
Urentum was a quiet rural village where the most significant incidents typically involved settling minor disputes among locals or finding someone’s lost crops.
Yet, the arrival of knights in uniforms bearing the imperial seal turned this peaceful place upside down.
“Summon the chief of police.”
“Yes!”

The police officers, likely enjoying a leisurely nap until now, were taken aback and stepped aside. They stood at attention, their hands trembling visibly even from a distance.
Fearing residual explosions, we left Celeste’s log cabin and headed to the police station. In such a small village, there was no higher authority like a police headquarters. We were grateful that at least a police station existed and quickly moved the carriage here. Though it was a tiny police station, with only about three rooms.
The injured knights tended to their wounds, while those unharmed busied themselves assisting their injured comrades.
‘Albrecht, the Grand Duke.’
I silently mulled over Carl’s name.
The male protagonist of this novel, the father of my child. The reality, which I had never imagined, caused my head to throb with pain.
The death of the Duke of Schwaben had finally happened, and despite my efforts to avoid entangling with the main characters by coming to this rural village, I ended up meeting and getting deeply involved with the male protagonist.
What should I do? No clear answer came to mind, but my thoughts were racing.
“Wahhh. Mama.”
The child, startled by the explosion, showed no signs of calming down. I tried to soothe the child from the carriage ride to the police station, but all I got was a sore arm and neck.
“Mommy, ma…”

Mommy.
The child’s babbling, searching for its mother, kept drawing my eyes to Carl. Fortunately, he seemed unaware that he was the child’s father, but I still felt self-conscious.
Should I be glad that I found the child’s father, or not? Ah, I don’t know. I just can’t figure it out.
An Indifferent Woman is the One Men Desire the Most
One-line summary: The female lead is actually cold-hearted and extremely rational. She has stage-by-stage relationships and won’t two-time, but there will always be someone who secretly likes her.
This novel has the following triggers, so if you’re sensitive to these, please don’t read:
1. The female lead has had many relationships, but she treated each one seriously and broke up properly.
It’s just that the men unilaterally pestered her incessantly. For the female lead, when she doesn’t like someone anymore, she simply doesn’t like them.
(This applies to her relationships with Male Lead 1, 2, 3, and 4 as well, but she’s loyal in each 1-on-1 relationship!)
2. In this novel, Male Lead 2 and the female lead kiss in a car, and Male Lead 1 sees it and beats up Male Lead 2.
The female lead calls the police and sends both Male Lead 1 and 2 to the police station! Male Lead 1 begs the female lead not to break up with him.
3. Male Lead 1 has a gentle appearance but an obsessive personality.
Male Lead 2 has a delicate and soft appearance, slightly green tea-like (two-faced).
Male Lead 3 is a youthful college student and a smart person who has secretly liked the female lead for a long time.
Male Lead 4 is the female lead’s father’s special assistant, a business elite with deep, hidden thoughts.
4. At the beginning of this novel, the female lead has already broken up with Male Lead 1 (Chapter 4) and gotten back together with Male Lead 2 (ex-boyfriend).
5. Enter with caution if you have triggers!!!
