“What?”

“Mumma. Muma, ummumma.”

I wasn’t sure if the baby was trying to say ‘mumma’ or ‘mum’. I didn’t know what to do with the child who was looking straight at me and making sounds vaguely resembling ‘mum’.

“Phew… This is crazy.”

The child of Lady Louise.

Lady Valerie.

I read and reread the letter. No matter how many times I scrutinized it, it wasn’t going to reveal the author behind the neat handwriting.

I couldn’t pretend I didn’t know, as whoever left the child here knew my identity and whereabouts. That scared me.

“No, this can’t be right. Baby, if you stay here, your real mum will come to pick you up.”

Surely no one would leave such a young baby and go far away. Perhaps they left the baby at my door and were hiding nearby, watching my reaction.

I only took the letter addressed to Celeste and covered the baby again with the blanket.

The cute face of the baby disappeared under the blanket.

“Kyaa, abubu.”

Even with the cloth over its face, the baby seemed to think this was a game, laughing and making happy sounds.

That response made me feel momentarily that I shouldn’t leave such a young baby alone, but I couldn’t bring a stranger’s baby into my house.

“It was nice meeting you, let’s never see each other again.”

Yes, I shouldn’t fall for someone’s cruel prank. With that resolve, I hurried inside and shut the door, ignoring the baby’s laughter behind me.

“…The tea must have gone cold.”

I sipped the now-cold tea, but the leisure to fully enjoy its aroma had long since vanished.

Five minutes later, I had no choice but to open the door and pick up the tear-stained baby.

“Wuwuaaang!”

“This is driving me crazy.”

The baby that had joyfully waved its hands when I closed the door was now tear-stained, having been scared in those five minutes alone.

As soon as I picked up the baby, it stopped crying and started smiling again.

“Hik, hik. Kyaa!”

That’s when I realized.

My comfortable and peaceful rural solo life had just come to an end.

I have no family.

I didn’t have one before, and I won’t have one in the future.

Parents? I’ve never seen their faces in my life, and I don’t even know if they’re alive.

When I say I have no family, people are first surprised and then give me sympathetic looks.

Did you have a hard time and feel lonely without your parents? I’m not sure, I never really missed them.

You can only feel a sense of loss for someone’s absence when you have memories of being together. For someone like me, who has no memory of family, the concept of longing for them was foreign.

So, I’ve been accustomed to being alone since I was very young.

Being alone as a child who is not even 10 years old is quite sad.

Had there been parents, I wouldn’t have had to endure harsh words and judgmental stares. During those times, I thought to myself.

I wish I had a real family.

I want to have a real family.

But I never imagined it would happen like this.

“Abu, buu.”

“It’s confirmed. This child is indeed your baby, madam. No, your child.”

“…How can that be?”

I muttered to myself in serious contemplation, then looked at the man in front of me.

“I haven’t even married. Plus, I’ve never seen this child before. How can it be mine?”
“I’m not quite sure of your past, madam, but it’s been proven that this child and you share blood relations.”

“…I asked you to find out who abandoned a baby at my doorstep, not to confirm paternity.”

Maybe I should have just gone to the police. A headache was starting to build.

After the baby started crying, I reluctantly brought it inside, but the real problem was what to do next. How could I keep a child I just met, especially when I don’t even know who the parents are?

Whoever left the baby at my door, reading a note saying ‘I’ll return the baby’ won’t convince anyone.

The best course of action seemed to be to find the real parents through the police, but the letter with my name on it made me hesitant to act rashly.

As I’ve been hiding my identity in this rural town, entangling myself with the police didn’t seem like a good idea. After much thought, I decided to go through a detective agency to track down the child’s identity.

Fortunately, I had more than enough money, so without hesitation, I hired the most famous detective agency in town, Alfonso’s, to find the child’s family and return them.

Comparing it to the modern era, it seemed like a private investigator. It’s a timeless fact that people will do anything for money. Though it’s a seemingly trivial realization, it felt somewhat bitter.

But the detective from this well-regarded agency in the rural town came up with the unexpected conclusion that this child is mine. How should I take this?

“Since it seems you’re not aware, madam, let me explain. This is a magical potion for identifying blood relations. When a drop of blood from each of the two individuals is mixed in here, if the color merges and becomes transparent, it indicates they’re blood-related. Just like this result.”

The detective showed the transparent potion in a flask.

“Boobooa.”

Male lead is reincarnated to save his wife

I’ve also read this one twice already. The female lead is kinda soft and gets embarrassed easily—not really my type, but the plot is definitely worth reading. Hurry up and read it, y’all!

Intro

When Shen Yuan encountered Su Jin again in his previous life, she had already become the Prime Minister of the current dynasty. As for him, the former top young master of the capital, he had long since fallen into the abyss, becoming a singer on a pleasure boat.

After a song ended, he was redeemed and sent to the Su Residence.

Su Jin respected and cherished him, gave him a roof over his head, and bestowed him with warmth. Shen Yuan fell deeper and deeper, but before he could express his feelings, Su Jin passed away.

Shen Yuan died to follow her in death, but instead, he returned to when he was fifteen years old.

At that time, he was not yet engaged, and Su Jin was just a poor scholar.

Shen Yuan gritted his teeth, casting aside all his pride, and thought of ways to coax and entice her every day.

The colder and more indifferent Su Jin was towards him, the more proactive Shen Yuan became.

He was not afraid of being mocked by the world, only wanting to marry his Wife-master early, to hold her hand and never let go for a lifetime.

[Note: This story will not specifically point out the male lead’s reincarnation time point; it’s all in the details. Whenever you feel that the male lead is acting strangely, he has most likely been reincarnated.]
