Ga Eul looked up at the massive gate before her. A stronger sense of helplessness washed over her than when she had first stood before Chairman Oh Gyu Baek’s house.

Ga Eul tightly bit her lip and stepped in front of the camera mounted beside the gate. There was no time to hesitate. After taking a deep breath, she firmly pressed the doorbell.

– Who is it?

“I’ve come to see Madam Joo Seon Ok.”

– Do you have an appointment?

“I haven’t made one. My name is Han Ga Eul.”

– Madam doesn’t meet visitors without prior appointments.

“Wait a moment, please. It’s urgent. I absolutely must speak with her regarding Mr. Gi Dae Woong—her grandson. Please tell her it concerns Mr. Gi Dae Woong’s life.”

Afraid the person might hang up the intercom, Ga Eul spoke quickly.

– Wait here. I’ll check with Madam.

The intercom clicked off abruptly. She seemed to have cleared the first hurdle. Whether his life was truly in danger remained uncertain—but she believed phrasing it that way would persuade Madam Joo to see her.

According to Chairman Oh Gyu Baek, who had mobilized his contacts in China, the last place Dae Woong was seen was the new factory site of Qingda Motors. After that, no one had seen him.

The car he was driving—and everyone inside—had vanished without a trace. Thus, claiming his life was on the line was not entirely false.

Trying to suppress her anxiety, Ga Eul took another deep breath, her eyes fixed intently on the camera beside the microphone.

After a long while passed with no sound from the intercom speaker, Ga Eul raised her hand to ring the bell again—when the gate swung open.
