Ga Eul waited for Jung Mi Oh in Dae Woon’s accommodation living room, wearing a bathrobe over her soaked clothes. She wanted to ask if she could at least go change her clothes, but the atmosphere in the living room was so heavy she couldn’t bring herself to say it.

Jung Mi Oh, summoned there, readily confessed what her father and Go Ye Rim had done.

She explained it was a scheme orchestrated by her father and Go Ye Rim, whose interests aligned, to drive a wedge between Dae Woon and Ga Eul—and if, in the process, Go Ye Rim and Dae Woon ended up together, all the better.

“Father was very angry with you, Ga Eul. He’d invited people to the dinner party, essentially selling Dae Woon Oppa—making it seem like Dae Woon Oppa was interested in Cheonghae Construction—so investment attraction would be easier.”

Hearing Jung Mi Oh’s words, Ga Eul tilted her head in confusion. Was President Jung truly such an influential figure?

“But when Oppa left midway, the guests at the dinner party panicked, wondering whether Gi Dae Woong had no intention of investing in Cheonghae Construction. Soon after, they learned Se Hyun Oppa had also disappeared—Jang Yu Jeong caused quite a commotion. Then rumors spread that Han Ga Eul had pulled the two of them out, and Father heard that too.”

But Han Ga Eul hadn’t pulled them out at all—Ga Eul silently corrected in her mind.

“Then yesterday, Go Ye Rim complained to Father as well, saying you seemed to be targeting Dae Woon Oppa. And at that point, Father found out you were the maternal granddaughter of the chairman of Pyeongan Group. Ever since Pyeongan announced they’d build a hotel there, Father’s been terrified of them.”

“I’m sorry, Ga Eul. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have introduced you to my uncle.”

“No need to apologize, Lawyer Jung. After all, Chairman Jung Sang Soo showed interest in me back then—it was only right to introduce us.”

Ga Eul smiled at Se Hyun, who was apologizing. In truth, the ones who should be apologizing were elsewhere. Her anger now turned squarely toward Go Ye Rim and Jung Sang Soo.

Go Ye Rim and Jung Sang Soo hadn’t just tried to separate President Jung and herself—they’d made her look like a fool.

Because she’d doubted Dae Woon, exactly as they’d intended. Worse still, by dousing him with water, she’d proven just how dense she truly was—all thanks to Ms. Go and Mr. Jung.

“Father thought driving a wedge between Dae Woon Oppa and you was revenge—against you for ruining his investment plan, and against Pyeongan for threatening his resort project.”

“So for that flimsy reason, he sent Go Ye Rim into my quarters? How utterly childish.”
