Ga Eul and Gyeo Wool easily found the guesthouse where they had stayed with Sung Mok’s family during their previous trip. Although many new buildings had sprung up nearby, the house sat atop a hill overlooking the sea, making it instantly recognizable.

Sung Mok himself had no trouble finding it either. He was seated on a rock by the beach, directly visible from the guesthouse, seemingly waiting for Gyeo Wool.

Gyeo Wool leapt out of the car and ran toward Sung Mok. Ga Eul watched as Gyeo Wool reached him and wrapped him in a tight embrace. The two remained locked in each other’s arms for a long while—were they crying? From where Ga Eul stood, she couldn’t tell.

Then, suddenly, the pair began sprinting toward the sea. Still fully clothed, they jumped straight into the water. Ga Eul shouted for them to at least take off their clothes first, but they seemed not to hear.

The three adults who had stepped out of the car observed the scene for a moment before heading into the guesthouse—only to come right back out, as there were no vacant rooms available.

The three exchanged glances, and only then did they realize they might end up sleeping outdoors. Despite being three grown adults, none of them had remembered to reserve accommodation on the way down; they’d been too preoccupied with the idea of having fun.

Even for a Gangnam building owner, this was a tough problem to solve—yet they had Gi Dae Woong. Dae Woon promptly made a phone call somewhere, waited briefly after hanging up, then received a callback. After answering, he announced:

“I’ve secured rooms—at a nearby resort.”

It turned out that a resort operated by Cheonghae Industrial Development was located close by. Cheonghae Industrial Development was a subsidiary of Cheonghae Construction—the company owned by Jeong Mi Oh’s father.

In the end, Ga Eul’s group benefited thanks to Jeong Mi Oh. Even Dae Woon, who normally complained about Mi Oh being a nuisance, had apparently swallowed his pride and reached out to her father.

Once accommodations were arranged, Gyeo Wool and Sung Mok—who had been darting around in the sea—returned, drenched and grinning like drowned mice.

Upon seeing Ga Eul and Grandmother, Sung Mok immediately dropped to his knees—then burst into tears. No matter how much Ga Eul and Grandmother urged him to stand, he wouldn’t budge. And so, right there in the guesthouse courtyard, they heard his confession:

“Unnie, Grandmother, I’m so sorry. I never intended to harm Gyeo Wool or you. I figured if I said something like that in front of so many classmates, someone would report me to the student affairs office or post it on the school’s online bulletin board. I’d be punished—and then…”

Sung Mok couldn’t finish his sentence and began sobbing again. Grandmother gently patted his shoulder.

“It’s alright. People make mistakes—that’s part of life. No one here blames you. How could I not know you? I’ve watched you grow up since you were little. I know you’re not the kind to harm others.”
