Oh Myung Se kept his word. Saying it was just the beginning and that he’d show them soon, he truly began wreaking havoc.

A few days after returning from her maternal grandparents’ home, Ga Eul, seated at her desk preparing for her return to school after dinner, received a phone call.

– Unnie, something big’s happened. Someone’s smashing up the President’s office. Looks like several guys are involved. I tried calling the President, but he’s not answering.

As soon as the call connected, the urgent voice of the evening part-timer from the convenience store across from the office poured through.

“Did you report it? Did you call the police?”

Ga Eul leapt up from her chair. Who was behind this was painfully obvious.

Whether fortunately or unfortunately, the President—who had gone out earlier that day—still hadn’t returned to the office.

“Got it. Keep trying to reach the President. I’m heading over right now.”

– Unnie, are you going alone? That sounds dangerous. Shouldn’t we call other people?

“By the time others arrive, everything will be over. Those guys will have already fled by then.”

– Should I go out? If they see someone watching, maybe they’ll hold back a bit?

“No, it’s too dangerous. They’re not the type to care about being watched. Stay inside the convenience store. If it feels unsafe, lock the door and stay put.”

After hanging up, Ga Eul hurriedly left the house, telling her Grandmother—who asked where she was going at this hour—only that something seemed wrong at the office.

Outside, she tried hailing a taxi, but none were in sight. Ga Eul began sprinting like a madwoman. Her head spun, her lungs burned as if tearing apart, yet she refused to stop running.

Above all, she felt deeply guilty toward the President. This was her problem—because of her, the President was suffering damage. She couldn’t even imagine the extent of the losses. Her vision darkened.
