Spending the summer in London had become a reality.

London summers have a large daily temperature range. The midday sun beats down relentlessly, yet it’s quite chilly the rest of the time, so you have to carry a cardigan with you.

Though that was somewhat bothersome, sitting beneath the shade of a tree with a sandwich in hand and gazing at the peaceful scenery always made her feel it had been worth it—having barely won that intense battle against Kwon Gi Ju just before the trip.

Mi Rae was utterly captivated by London more than any other destination, all because of a detective drama she deeply loved. Standing in front of Baker Street, the very setting of the show, she couldn’t hide her excitement.

“It’s brilliant how he deduces someone’s lifestyle and even their occupation from the tiniest traces. You really have to see it yourself. Big Ben, the houses—they’re under construction right now, which is such a shame. I’d been looking forward to it.”

Listening to Mi Rae’s explanation, Eun Chae felt a strange sense of déjà vu. She knew someone else who read others through their words, actions, and even their gaze.

Kwon Gi Ju, having achieved his goal, looked largely unchanged from before. Even after returning from bodyguard duty to his regular job, his expression, tone of voice, and general appearance remained exactly as they’d always been.

The only thing that had changed was her feelings toward the scars on his body. What had once seemed mysterious and shocking now filled her with deep sorrow. Strangely, the man himself seemed to enjoy receiving those pitying glances.

‘Don’t leave me.’

He’d said it with the most pitiful expression.

‘I’m pitifuler than I look.’

Quietly observing him, she realized he was an oddly brazen man—someone who could casually demand sympathy as if it were nothing.

After finally securing a table at the restaurant following a long wait, Mi Rae was placing their order when she suddenly noticed Eun Chae smirking to herself. She eyed her suspiciously.

“Do you hold a grudge against dim sum? Why are you openly sneering like that?”

“Huh? Oh, no, not at all.”
