The lips pressed against her nape traced her skin recklessly along the prominent bone. Her head involuntarily dipped, and her body curled inward. Even clutching Kwon Gi Ju’s sweater tightly enough to crumple it utterly brought no relief. Her whole body trembled.

Eun Chae scowled deeply, face flushed crimson, and barely managed to raise her neck to check the CCTV camera. She felt as if her eyes had met the dark lens directly.

All the while, the lips pressing into her nape moved deliberately. They pressed firmly into the hollow where neck met shoulder. His calm, exhaled breath felt hot and ticklish, making even the fine hairs on her skin stand on end.

Her worries and anxieties about the present and the future—vanished instantly, erased completely from her mind.

Her eyes regained focus as if waking from enslavement to that sensation, arching her neck and gasping—because he had stopped and pulled away.

Overwhelmed by sudden emptiness, she reached up with her hand to feel her nape, searching for traces.

Yet nothing remained—it had merely touched and withdrawn.

“I didn’t leave a mark.”

At those words, Eun Chae snapped back to her senses as if doused with ice water.

She didn’t know how she found the strength to stand, but she did—standing rigidly upright, looking down at him, and spoke clearly, syllable by syllable.

“…Could you please move those potted plants behind me a bit forward?”

At her forced composure, Gi Ju’s deep-set eyes flickered.

His expression looked slightly unfamiliar. He even let out a hollow chuckle through the corner of his mouth, where one end of his lips had lifted. It wasn’t mere disbelief or absurdity—it was something else entirely.

Feeling an inexplicable dull ache in her solar plexus, Eun Chae walked past him as if fleeing. Gi Ju’s gaze pierced her back like needles, but she ignored it.

Gasping for breath as she entered the foyer, she was met with the staff member’s puzzled stare. When asked, “Shall I bring you some water?”, Eun Chae shook her head and headed straight up the stairs.
