Eun Chae met his eyes as if questioning why he was calling her. Seung Yoon spoke almost in a persuasive manner.
“You need to wake up and face the situation.”
“……”
“You’ve just caught the eye of a bodyguard.”
“……”
“Do you think Chairman Song will let this slide if he finds out?”
Upon hearing his question that was not really a question, she felt a resonance in her heart.
Kwon Ki Joo might be fired and become incapable of restarting.
“That bastard, do you think he’ll manage to live as a human?”
He was a man who had run away out of fear.
Listening to his relentless threats as if they were background music, Eun Chae fingered her coffee cup. Having vented his anger, Seung Yoon seemed relieved and started adjusting his tie in a refined manner.
Watching him, Eun Chae sipped her coffee. She waited until the strong acidity hit her throat before opening her mouth.
“The alumni meetings, I’ve attended them all, reminiscing about the old days, and at the same time, the number of women I met were three, or was it four?”
At her words, Seung Yoon’s breath stopped. Eun Chae looked at his hardened face that he failed to compose in time, and felt a twinge of pity. But that was it.
“Let’s stop there. You’ve gone too far by involving even the congressman’s secretary.”
“……”
“Are you grinding your teeth these days? No matter what excuse you use, it doesn’t work.”
Seung Yoon blankly stared at her face as she casually spoke about a vulgar topic with elegance. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing, even though he heard it himself, and blinked several times.
Eun Chae spoke nonchalantly while twirling her wellmaintained hair.
“I wonder what will happen if the congressman finds out.”
“……”
“The presidential election is just a few months away.”
Seung Yoon gritted his teeth. He must have put a lot of effort into it as his jaw was visibly trembling.
“……Wha, what……”
“Stay quiet.”
“……”
“It was you who asked for it from the beginning.”
Eun Chae looked at him as if asking, is it simple? Caught off guard, Seung Yoon let out a hollow laugh.
Taking that as a response, she gathered her handbag and got up.
“……I should have realized when you banged the door with an axe.”
Eun Chae lifted her gaze at the murmuring voice of Han Seung Yoon, who was holding his head.
“When you threatened to keep the appointment time.”
“……”
“Was it from then?”
When she looked at him as if asking what he was talking about, Seung Yoon trembled as he glared at her.
“I thought you sent him to the hotel.”
“……”
“But it seems like he came of his own accord.”
“……”
“It’s a tearful love, isn’t it?”
Eun Chae finally understood his words. The reason why Seung Yoon was hostile to me at the MK Hotel with incomprehensible words. The reason why he was particularly discontented with Kwon Ki Joo. She felt like she had found all the answers.
“I never said it was love.”
At her words, Seung Yoon scowled openly. She looked at Seung Yoon with downcast eyes for a moment, then turned away.
She did not want to attribute any meaning to Kwon Ki Joo’s actions. She simply defined it as typical of Kwon Ki Joo.
As she stepped out of the cafe, the bodyguard who came with Ki Joo instead of herself hurriedly ran to her.
Eun Chae expressed her gratitude with a blink of her eyes and walked towards the car.
She wanted to ruin him. The opportunity came. But she couldn’t ruin him in the end.
Eun Chae laughed at herself, thinking her heart was still a flower garden.
((())) ((())) ((()))
‘You’re interfering with my date. You keep crossing the line.’
These were the words Song Eun Chae added after calling another bodyguard as she was preparing to go out to meet Han Seung Yoon. She put forth a plausible reason, so what could be done? She should be sulking.
Since he stayed at home, Chairman Song Myung Hwan seemed to be rather pleased. It was natural since she told him she didn’t want her date with Han Seung Yoon to be monitored.
As a result, Ki Joo accompanied him to the hospital visit of Kwak Hyun Seob, which was not scheduled. Kwak Hyun Seob looked deathly pale after a few days. The time when he was hiding in Chuncheon as a fugitive seemed to have been better.
When Ki Joo saw Chairman Song Myung Hwan, he stared indifferently at Kwak Hyun Seob, who was drenched with sweat. He sat on the window sill when he said, ‘Please save me,’ spitting saliva.
“One should stretch their legs according to the coverlet. There was no answer to the incompetence of Kwak Hyunsub, who had no eye for people.
At the end of a petty task, Chairman Song stopped by at the Yangpyeong hangover soup house, where he frequents. Thanks to the slightly late timing, he had a rather long meal in the quiet store.
After that, on his way home, he ran into her at the gate. Eun Chae was dressed the same as when she left, perhaps coming back from meeting Han Seungyoon.
While she was greeting Chairman Song Myunghwan on her return, she looked casually at the following people, discovered Ki Joo standing at the end, and furrowed her brows.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
