“Do I have anything to hide from me?”
At the sudden question, he squinted his eyes. Staring as if trying to see through his thoughts, he carefully opened his mouth.
“I saw Song Myunghwan in the warehouse.”
“…”
“Anything to say?”
Eunchae blinked, grabbing her opposite arm with her right hand.
“He said there was a purpose. I don’t know the details…”
Though she answered vaguely, Kijoo, who knew the purpose, didn’t inquire further.
“It’s confusing and scary. I know.”
“…”
“Let’s stay here together for a while.”
“I want to go home.”
At the words that seemed to have been spoken without hesitation, Kijoo’s eyes widened a bit.
“Here… is scarier.”
However, he didn’t say anything. Rather than questioning if she wanted to stay, he quietly followed her wishes.
It was his fault for using Haman Ajumma, who was practically the head of the household, to bring her. He momentarily blinded himself to the satisfaction Eunchae provided and let his guard down.
Kijoo quietly checked on the sleeping Eunchae from outside the room. Moonlight through the window illuminated half of her face.
She smiled charmingly just a few hours ago.
Wishing to shield her from any nightmares, he took a step forward but soon quietly closed the door.
Ha. Who is he protecting by existing? He’s blinded.
Leaning against the closed door, Kijoo tapped the wall lightly with a clenched fist.

Yangpyeong Villa was a place where time seemed to flow exceptionally slowly.
Drinking ginseng liquor poured directly by the caretaker while checking the date, Song Myunghwan laughed heartily and put down his glass. Although each day felt as if time had stopped, the time spent contemplating how to drug Kijoo was an indescribable source of happiness.
Since the carefully laid plans seemed to have suddenly disappeared, various thoughts might have crossed his mind. He could have contacted me first to recover the lost money line. At least, we would meet in some way, but this time, I was determined to thoroughly destroy it.
A crime of giving trouble. Breaking the foot that pressed on the shoulder, cutting the hand that restrained, and confining in the basement for a lifetime, depriving them of ever seeing the sunlight again.
“Huh, who would come looking for a guy whose family is all dead.”
Song Myunghwan raised the ginseng liquor.
Splosh. At that moment, Madam Seong Munhee opened the door with a bang and walked in. She had said not to come without prior contact. Setting aside that, this action of throwing the door wide open greatly irritated Song Myunghwan.
“I told you not to wander around here.”
As Song Myunghwan lowered his voice like a warning, Munhee spilled what she had in her hands on the floor.
“W-what is this!”
“…”
“Is this a lie? You were the only one in my life! How many were there!”
What scattered on the floor were pictures containing encounters with women of various professions that Song Myunghwan had met.
Song Myunghwan’s face, scrutinizing the date-accurate photos, stiffened. It wasn’t an ordinary meeting, and the pictures were not the kind commonly taken, given that they were captured in a building nestled in the mountains, thoroughly avoiding people.
“The dead woman said she didn’t love! It was a forced marriage for business!”
“The photos… where did you get them?”
“I found them when I opened the package that arrived yesterday.”
“…”
“But, is that important now? Are you sorry to Jinsung?”
Munhee began to lament with tears in her eyes due to the wind of emotions. Song Myunghwan, who had soared in mood only to crash suddenly to the ground, glared sharply at Munhee while wrapping his dizzy head.
“… I will inherit everything from Jinsung before I die. But do I have to feel sorry? Jinsung is my son, my only blood! So, you, as Jinsung’s mother, picked up what was due to him! Is it embarrassing for us to discuss a man and a woman between us? Huh?!”
Stunned Munhee stood still, tears streaming down her eyes. Seeing her like that, Song Myunghwan, who had held his breath, sighed deeply.
“Since you seem excited too, get out for now.”
After being shocked to the point where she couldn’t hear anymore or even blink, Munhee stood still. Seeing this, Song Myunghwan picked up all the pictures on the floor and left.
“Director Kim! Where is Director Kim!”
“Yes, Chairman.”
As Song Myunghwan, who stepped into the living room, loudly called, the secretary who had been waiting approached quickly, buttoning his jacket.
“Contact that bastard right now.”
The secretary, bowing his head, took out his phone from his pocket. However, just then, a call came in, and the secretary’s face turned pale as he turned to connect the call from Song Myunghwan.
“Uh, Chairman.”
“What is it?”
“Someone broke into the warehouse and took the lady away.”
Angry, Song Myunghwan shouted while brandishing the pictures he had in his hands.
“Who the hell is it!”
“That… we couldn’t figure it out.”
Upon hearing this, Song Myunghwan’s sanity flipped.
“Don’t you have eyes? Huh? Why can’t you see who took her!”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
