When The Silver Bell Of Charlotte's Pharmacy Rings (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 24
Charlotte herself was, strictly speaking, a mage rather than a powerful medium, so she couldn’t always see spirits.
However, quite a few mediums existed in her mother’s bloodline, and whether she’d inherited that trait or not, she occasionally—fairly often by ordinary standards—saw spirits.
If she chose to, she could converse with them or even influence them, but unless it was a malevolent spirit worth capturing, she rarely initiated contact with spirits herself.
A human’s body and soul were connected by fine, densely woven threads, like spider silk.
In simple terms, they were just ‘threads,’ though if one had to give them a more conceptual name, they might be called reason or consciousness.
As a person aged or fell ill in body or mind, those tightly woven threads would begin snapping or falling away, one by one.
Once all of them had fallen away, the soul could no longer remain attached to the body.
To be precise…
‘It doesn’t *need* to stay attached. Those who occasionally lose their minds and commit acts of madness are essentially half-dead already—having lost all the basic elements that make one human.’
Charlotte, unknowingly biting her fingernail, quickly scanned the side room where the funeral was nearing its end.
‘A spirit can’t vanish immediately after death. Unless it lingers somewhere it’s attached to… A freshly detached soul is usually bewildered and tries to return to its body. Thus, it’s common to find them hovering beside their already-cold corpse—but this man’s spirit isn’t visible. Nor do I sense any aura suggesting it’s turned into a malevolent spirit.’
She felt uneasy.
An unpleasant, clammy chill seemed to seep into her skirt, making Charlotte keep twitching her heels.
The ceremonial priest, summoned for the funeral, rang a bell to signal the start of the burial procession.
That bell, with its heavy-looking handle, left a lingering resonance in the ears long after a single shake.

The Villainous Demon Lord Laid an Egg for Her (Female-Dominated)
Several months after transmigrating into a book, Yu Wu found herself facing the demon lord Li You, who could no longer conceal his dragon horns. With one hand on her aching waist and the other gripping a sharp sword, she stared at him.
The demon lord’s eyes were red with fury:
“This is all your doing! Today, I won’t rest until I kill you!”
Yu Wu rubbed her temples. Putting aside the taboo against bloodshed during pregnancy, wasn’t it this very man who willingly walked into her trap that day?!
Warnings:

A soft smile appeared on Adonion’s lips.
There is something suspicious about this guy. Maybe because of the way the light glinted off his monocle, just like in an anime…something is off with him

I’m on Tar Mi’s side here. The Duke seems a bit too careless about his relationship with Charlotte. Feelings or no, it’s as if he hasn’t given any thought to the consequences any of his actions will have on her and her life. I’d say any feelings he has are superficial at best.
