When The Silver Bell Of Charlotte's Pharmacy Rings (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 209

Maleblanc was furious at Charlotte’s gaze, yet shaken. No one—not even the monster hunters who had faced him long ago—had ever imagined that this vile being could be unsettled by anyone.

But Maleblanc, too, was a creature bound within the cycle of life and death. Confronted with the terror of being utterly severed from this world—the primal fear of death—he, like all living things, could not help but feel instinctive dread.

“Filthy vermin dare!”

In an instant, a colossal gale swept through the forest. Princess Feriera staggered, letting out a cry, and Charlotte hastily withdrew her pendulum and grabbed her shoulder, while Matiel braced them from behind. Amid the raging storm, the silver bell clutched by Feriera rang madly.

“Can’t you let go! Drop that damn thing! Or I’ll tear you to shreds myself!”

A ghastly, subterranean shriek enveloped Feriera. She broke into terrified sobs but never once loosened her grip on the silver bell.

Through the blinding winds, Charlotte shouted,

“Your Highness! Speak! You must say you won’t allow him in!”

“I’m scared! I’m so scared, Charlotte!”

“Only Your Highness, holding the silver bell, can truly drive him away!”

The wind now raged from all directions, threatening to hurl them to the ends of the earth. In that dire moment—absurd as it seemed—Charlotte recalled a fairy tale she had read as a child, told to her by her father while she lay resting on her mother’s lap.

Wild strawberries, acorns, apples. Charlotte’s lips trembled against the wind. They were just like them now—tiny fruits that would fall at the slightest gust. Yet when fruit fell, new shoots sprouted. When more trees grew, leaning on each other and intertwining branches, the forest would not vanish, even in a storm.

“I do not welcome you!”

Charlotte’s voice pierced through the gale. The mad ringing of the silver bell grew louder still. The wind began to weaken.
