When The Silver Bell Of Charlotte's Pharmacy Rings (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 174
Damn it, Tae Mi thought. Hearing Colfer’s laughter, filled with rage and madness, made his teeth grind on their own. The sound of footsteps rapidly descending the stairs echoed—tap-tap-tap-tap, tap-tap-tap!—like a small hatchet torturing a young sapling.
“Tae Mi! Tae Mi! Trying to run away? Trying to scurry off like a worm? Not a chance! Not a chance!”
Tae Mi bit his lip at Colfer’s voice, sounding as if it had reached right behind him, and ducked around another corner. His knees stung, then a sharp, needle-like pain overwhelmed him. His injured leg, which had been uncooperative and limping, caught on a pile of rotten wooden crates, making a loud clatter.
“Damn it!”
“I heard that! I heard you! Tae Mi, are you there? Are you over there?”
Colfer’s laughter thundered through the cellar. The sound of running water—the very sound Tae Mi needed to find, the canal—was drowned out by her laughter. But when Colfer finally stopped laughing, the sound returned, now seeming to come from an entirely different direction.
“Damn it, what the hell is going on….”
“Confused?”
Colfer’s voice rang out brightly. It sounded just like that of a teenage girl playing a fun prank with friends—nothing more, nothing less—and it sent chills down his spine. Even more terrifying was that her voice came not from the entrance, but from somewhere farther ahead of where Tae Mi stood.
“Confused, Tae Mi? About what’s what, where’s where, and just where the hell this damn sewer even is? Want to know why? Because this sewer’s an expert at playing tricks on people!”
Colfer giggled again. Tae Mi glanced toward where her voice had come from, then limped off in the opposite direction. Pressing his back against a damp corner, he felt as though he’d lain down on a bed of thorns—his entire body prickled.
Colfer, who had been cackling like a madwoman, spoke again.
“No, no, I lied! How could a sewer possibly play tricks on anyone? I’ll tell you the real secret, Tae Mi. This cellar is a real labyrinth—a rabbit warren dug by some filthy, trembling nouveau riche bastard! He probably marked every corner with his own urine so he wouldn’t get lost!”
Labyrinth. Tae Mi felt as if he’d been struck on the head with a sledgehammer. He’d looked at the map the girl drew and thought it resembled a maze puzzle, yet he hadn’t realized this cellar itself was a true labyrinth—it made him feel pathetic.
“So that’s why. That’s why the direction of the water sound kept seeming to change.”

“This is all your doing! Today, I won’t rest until I kill you!”

Yes, kill the vampire before it reveals it’s secrets. This guy is still suspicious. The easiest way to avoid being seen as a suspect is to become a victim.
The guards are to protect the kingdom, it makes no sense to prioritize the guards well being over the kingdoms well being. That is precisely what the 2nd prince has done by letting Maleblanc go and calling a retreat.
