Matiel narrowed his brows, unaware of what Charlotte was doing. He didn’t know exactly what she was up to, but he felt a strong urge to stop her right away.

〈I’m just born this way. It’s not even that powerful.〉

What she meant was that whenever Charlotte performed any sort of magic, it drained a considerable amount of her own physical stamina or mental energy. The pendulum, talismans, and various other portable magical artifacts and crystals she carried were proof of that.

But Matiel dared not intervene—not out of respect for the king, but for Charlotte’s sake. Interfering with and restricting every little move she made, then wrapping it up in the guise of “worry,” would ultimately serve only Matiel’s own self-satisfaction. It wouldn’t help Charlotte’s life in the slightest.

“To think she could even do something like that…”

King Ryuen murmured quietly. It was almost an unconscious mutter, as if he’d forgotten Matiel was even standing beside him.

Matiel watched as the light emanating from around Charlotte’s body gently tapped against Feriera’s head, chest, abdomen, fingertips, and toes, then slowly seeped inside her.

“Do you know what Charlotte is doing, Your Majesty?”

When Matiel asked, King Ryuen looked at him with hazy eyes, as though just waking from sleep. But soon his gaze shifted to Feriera, and this time it was somewhat clearer.

“That’s…”

King Ryuen began with a sigh in his voice, pausing for a long while before continuing.

“That’s sharing her own blood—through magic, that is. You might call it a kind of transfusion.”

There was a bitter, acrid note of laughter in the way King Ryuen pronounced the word ‘transfusion.’ Matiel understood why: it was during the Revolutionary Government era that surgical procedures and the vast body of knowledge and information surrounding them had flourished.

King Ryuen continued.

“Medical blood transfusions aren’t legally permitted yet. But whether it’s in hospitals, clinics, or even under bridges over streams where people lay rags and sterilize their knives with match flames—everyone knows what transfusion is, and they perform it when necessary. It’s one of the….”

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away

This is also on my reread list!

This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.

Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.

But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.

Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.

I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.

The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.

As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.

Do you dare?

Su Heng assists a divine lord in his cultivation, aiming to make him experience all the sufferings of love, so that he can attain the Great Dao.

Only after being chased down from the heavens by the divine lord, confined and completely possessed by him, does she realize how successful she has been.

The once gentle and polite youth has transformed into someone she no longer recognizes.

To be honest, Tae Mi is my favorite character in this novel.

Why would a vampire waste all that nourishing blood? Probably the crown prince taking out an annoyance and blaming it on a known culprit of murder.

  2. Aelthia Chapter 165 — Paragraph 1
Matiel was somewhat reluctant, but ultimately agreed to spend the night at Willa

Matiel is behaving childishly regarding Willa & her ‘using tricks’ to survive. Staring away from his host and refusing to engage in conversation? That’s ridiculous behavior.

Could someone be trying to frame the crown prince?
