If his motherinlaw were alive, she would have taken good care of her.
“Remember this when I send it back. It gives me peace of mind to do it that way. I also made a promise to my motherinlaw. You know that.”
“I won’t be able to send it back. I’ve completely gotten rid of that bank account.”
“…..”
Do Ha was momentarily taken aback.
“You really went that far…..”
“Brother, living with you was hard at times, but I was happy. It was a marriage I chose, and I have no regrets about that decision.”
“…..”
Do Ha let out a long sigh, like a lament, and then gave a small nod.
“If you think that way… I’m grateful.”
He hadn’t expected her to say she had no regrets, even after everything they’d been through. Her words brought him immense relief.
They were no longer a couple, but it wasn’t as if she was denying all her past feelings.
Could it be interpreted that she still had some lingering feelings, however faint?
Then, might they have a chance to make things right again in the future?
But he realized that was just his wishful thinking from Hyun Seo’s next words.
“So, I hope you meet a good person in the future and live happily without feeling guilty.”
Do Ha’s face hardened instantly.

“Ah… Can’t you just not say that?”
“…..”
Hyun Seo looked up at Do Ha, whose eyes had grown a little larger in surprise at his outburst.
For some reason, he stared at her with a stern look.
“I don’t care about meeting a good person or anything. I have no intention of meeting anyone else.”
Seeing his resolute stance, Hyun Seo couldn’t help but nod in acceptance.
“….Alright. Do as you wish.”
The already heavy atmosphere felt even colder, as if cold water had been poured over it.
“Is that really what you want?”
Do Ha spat out, as if he was still feeling suffocated.
“Do you really want me to meet a good person, in other words, another woman and be happy? Is that what you really want?”
Hyun Seo just stared silently at the man who was now her exhusband.
And she quietly thought about it.
The image of this man meeting another woman, falling in love, and being happy.
“No.”
No, of course not.
It couldn’t be.

“To be honest, I hope you miss me for a long time. I hope you shed tears after I leave. I wish you would suffer without me.”
Do Ha looked quite shocked at her words.
“But… I know you won’t. So, it’s just a saying. Be happy.”
It was resignation reached at the end of several years of marriage.
But for some reason, her exhusband looked down at her with a dazed face. After a long pause, he finally spoke.
“…..Don’t worry about me, you take care.”
“Yes. Even that is me being nosy. I won’t care anymore.”
Do Ha furrowed his brow.
That’s not what he meant.
The more he talked with his wife, the more he felt like he was falling into a maze.
Hyun Seo quietly looked at her tonguetied exhusband. Finally, she smoothed her expression a bit and spoke in a serene tone.
“I’ll go, then.”
But his gaze persistently followed her as she bid him farewell.
Because this was really the last time.
“I’ll… contact you sometimes.”
Instead of responding to her goodbye, Do Ha said that.

“I hope you answer when I contact you.”
For some reason, he felt a sense of unease creeping in.
Why? Why did it feel like this was really the end?
What if he couldn’t approach her again after letting her go for a moment?
“No… I won’t answer.”
Do Ha’s eyelids shot up.
“We’re strangers now. We really have no relation to each other, even on paper.”
The face of his everything, who even managed to smile faintly, felt distant and remote.
“So let’s live our separate lives now. You live your life, I’ll live mine. Independently, without affecting each other.”
“…..”
Hyun Seo raised the corners of his mouth even more, trying not to cry. It was heartbreaking that he couldn’t show his baby’s father, who was so adorable.
The man, unaware of anything, was just looking down at her with a hollow face.
He seemed to want to say something, but his lips were only slightly moving.
So, the last word was spat out by Hyun Seo.
“I hope we never meet again after today. Don’t contact me or come looking for me.”
Leaving her frozen exhusband behind, Hyun Seo turned around.

Soon, as she moved her steps, she murmured to herself.
‘Goodbye, brother. Now it’s goodbye forever.’
Hyun Seo hurried her steps, looking at the sky for fear of tears flowing.
Do Ha, who had been staring blankly at her, realized how little courage he had in front of Hyun Seo.
He reached out his hand to the empty air, wanting to hold onto Hyun Seo.
The shrinking figure of her in his sight seemed like a mirage.
As she opened the front door, a fresh breeze hit her face. The weather made the change of season feel real.
She said goodbye to her husband in the chilly late autumn air, and went through a harsh, severe winter with her baby, without her husband.
And before she knew it, new buds were sprouting on the dry trees.
Suddenly feeling a kick, Hyun Seo habitually stroked her belly, which was now quite swollen.
“Our baby is very active today. Is our baby excited because we’re leaving for a faroff place with mom?”
Hyun Seo, who was smiling faintly looking down at her belly, seemed to make up her mind and grabbed the handle of her suitcase.

The notsolarge suitcase was all she had. Her body was heavy, and she didn’t really need much luggage.
“Let’s go, baby. There’s someone waiting to welcome us.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
