Emilia finally walked toward the bed with a resigned expression.

“I’ll first check the injured areas and then examine your ankle closely at the end.”

Enrico, seated on the chair beside the bed, stared at her intently with an unreadable expression. She glanced at him once, then turned her gaze back to the physician.

She worried the physician might notice something unusual while examining her ankle. If asked, she’d just say it occasionally ached but didn’t interfere much with ballet—she’d brush it off vaguely.

After all, she wasn’t completely unable to dance, and if things got worse, she could always agree to treatment. Emilia tried hard to think positively, despite how foolish it made her past delays seem.

“The wounds on your body have healed considerably. At this rate, you’ll recover fully.”

“That’s good to hear.”

“Now let’s examine your ankle.”

She felt the physician’s hands reaching to remove her shoes. Emilia quickly stopped him, trying her best to speak calmly.

“Since you’re only checking my ankle, could I keep my shoes on? Is that possible?”

“Ah… I’ll examine it as is for now, and let you know if it becomes necessary to remove them.”

“Thank you.”

The physician carefully palpated her ankle to assess its condition. Some spots stung when pressed, but not unbearably so.

“It seems your ligaments are somewhat damaged.”
