Instead of sunlight hidden behind clouds, raindrops tapped against the navy umbrella held by Alessandro. With silver hair neatly swept back and clad in a blue formal suit, he exuded a cool aura that made one forget the humid weather.

“Emilia. I happened to be passing by and thought I’d stop in—though I didn’t expect you’d be home so early.”

Emilia tried hard not to show her flustered reaction as she looked at Alessandro, who greeted her with surprised yet pleased eyes.

She remembered he knew her address because of the letter he’d sent before, but she hadn’t expected him to show up so suddenly, leaving her a little awkward.

‘Is this a trait among royals…? Neither of these two men ever thinks to send a visiting notice beforehand.’

Or perhaps they simply didn’t care to. She gave a slight bow, took the hand he offered, and stepped down from the carriage.

“Your Highness, may I ask what brings you here?”

The moment she stepped down, she quickly withdrew her hand and politely placed both hands in front of her, eyes slightly lowered.

“I’m sorry for this sudden visit. I was so worried that, without even realizing it, my feet brought me here.”

“If it’s about the incident at the theater, my injuries have healed well, and I’ve been receiving proper treatment.”

“Were you hurt anywhere? So, was that why you returned home early today—because you couldn’t dance right away?”

Had he really come all the way here just to check on her? Emilia glanced up at him.

Under the bright light, Alessandro’s eyes appeared as a blend of gray and violet. At first she thought they were lighter than Enrico’s clear violet eyes, but realized it was the mixture of two colors creating that impression.

“…Yes. It’s just a few scratches from glass—once the skin heals a bit, I plan to start dancing again.”

Alessandro briefly let his eyes flick toward her neck and arms as if checking her condition, then—perhaps embarrassed—cleared his throat and quickly averted his gaze. Emilia inwardly wondered at this behavior.
