Enrico rang a bell while speaking, calling a servant. He instructed them to bring his wine and the grape juice Emilia often drank, then continued in a low voice.

“I suspect you already know the reason best. After all, you were the first to doubt that woman.”

“Yes… but I never imagined she’d actually do it. I didn’t really think she was the culprit.”

Emilia briefly recalled the envious looks Christina had kept giving her.

She’d felt uneasy from the start—Christina reminded her of Eva but carried an even darker aura; she hadn’t expected things to escalate this far.

She knew Christina was fiercely competitive, but this was simply excessive. Disappointment weighed heavier than anger on her face.

“He bribed a theater cleaner—someone who wouldn’t raise suspicion accessing the ceiling area.”

“Hah… How did you find that cleaner? Did Christina confess first?”

“No. Quite the opposite. The cleaner was seen by a staff member you’d asked to inspect the ceiling—that became the decisive evidence. They went up there at your request and saw the cleaner tampering with something.”

“Oh… but at that time, they didn’t notice the rope was tampered with?”

“When spotted, the cleaner immediately claimed a small light fixture looked odd, so there was no time to suspect anything else. In the rush to replace it quickly, they didn’t have time to check anything further.”

Emilia slowly nodded. Though the accident was regrettable, in a way it felt fortunate it ended here.

At least she’d sent a staff member, allowing them to track down the culprit immediately. She’d only made the request to ease her anxiety, yet luckily everything unfolded smoothly, enabling a swift resolution.

“So the cleaner revealed Christina’s involvement?”

“Yes. Their relationship had no loyalty at all—wrapped up easily.”
