Enrico lazily licked his lips, his face slightly flushed and reddened around the eyes from fever. His previously hazy eyes had quickly cooled into sharp clarity.

Should he just grab her and take her back right now? Should he carve into her mind once more that their agreement wasn’t only about dancing—but about her very self—since she’d dared to refuse him?

Why did those lips passing before his eyes leave him so unsatisfied? He wondered if the fever had truly scrambled his thoughts.

Though it had been called a minor wound, it felt as if poison had been smeared on the blade—his whole body burned with fever. Fortunately, he had built up some resistance to toxins; he’d likely recover within a day or so.

Yet, truthfully, what bothered him more than the wound was Emilia herself, who had just been staring at him. He’d approached her merely to satisfy his curiosity, but now his body was rebelling—as if to say that it wasn’t just mere interest after all.

“Damn it….”

He glanced down between his legs with an irritated expression, then soon after tilted his head back in frustration, veins clearly standing out along his jaw and neck.

“If we go back, we’ll stick to the original schedule.”

Her shoulders flinched.

“You gave me too much information in Bacorta. I won’t need any more for now.”
