It was the morning the long holiday began, but there was no time to relax. Since it took roughly six hours to reach Bacorta, Enrico had announced he would be taking the train departing at 11 a.m.

Because it took some time to get from her current residence to Deciro Central Station, Emilia had to leave home early.

Carrying her travel bag, Emilia stepped into the living room, where Zabeta, who had already arrived, quickly approached her.

“Please hand it to me, miss.”

“It’s fine.”

“This puts me in a difficult position.”

At Zabeta’s firm tone, Emilia reluctantly passed over the bag with an awkward expression.

“You can go straight to the carriage. I’ve already received your assigned train compartment.”

“Understood.”

Since Enrico planned to make full use of the holiday period, he had included Zabeta and his counselor Fabio among his entourage. It was fortunate that he hadn’t brought a large retinue, yet at the same time, Emilia couldn’t help but worry whether just these few people would truly be enough.

‘Well, he’ll figure it out himself.’

Emilia climbed into the carriage, opened the window, and savored the scent of the spring breeze carried in by the wind. It felt as if only yesterday she couldn’t even open the window because of the cold, yet now the wind fluttered pleasantly.

The carriage sped along the streets and soon arrived at the station. Emilia hurried toward the platform with Zabeta. When Zabeta showed their tickets to the station attendant, the attendant silently guided them to the rear of the train.

Stepping up the stairs, they boarded the train. The interior that met her eyes was completely unlike the dark train she had taken alone as a child when heading to the Academy of Arts. Though it was undoubtedly the same train, everything now seemed transformed as if she had entered another world. Emilia inwardly marveled at the walls partially wrapped in luxurious leather and the ornate lighting.

“The attendant said to go further inside, miss.”
