After work, Tae Gyu skimmed Soo In’s text saying she’d made samgyetang for Chobok and took off his white coat.

Her message arrived uncannily right at quitting time, and Tae Gyu chuckled, clicking his tongue as if he couldn’t help but give in.

He’d been on call and utterly drained from back-to-back surgeries—just leaning his head anywhere would’ve sent him straight to sleep.

He’d planned to head straight to bed the moment he got home. But then she’d surely chase him all the way up to the third floor, urging him to at least have a spoonful first.

Imagining that all-too-familiar scene, Tae Gyu headed toward the first-floor café, figuring he might as well recharge whatever energy he had left.

He ordered an Americano and sat down for a brief rest—when suddenly, a familiar woman’s back came into view through the window.

Ah. That nurse again.

Tae Gyu pressed his throbbing forehead, about to shift seats.

Lately, wherever he turned his eyes, there was Lee Na Rim. No matter where he went, Lee Na Rim kept appearing. Even on days he saw someone else, he often superimposed her image onto them.

He’d even wondered whether he was hallucinating—until the man standing across from her called out her name.

Through the slightly open window, he heard Na Rim’s cheerful greeting, and soon after, the man placed his hand on her shoulder.

The instant he saw that, Tae Gyu shot up from his seat without even realizing it.

Had the window not blocked him, he surely would’ve reached out and yanked that hand away.

Thankfully, the door from outside didn’t let her see in—or she’d have found his ridiculous stance utterly laughable.
