Tae Gyu smirked at Eun Jae, lifting one corner of his mouth.

“Well, your intuition isn’t exactly trustworthy.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. You’re notoriously clueless.”

“You’ve only been watching me for a month or two?” Tae Gyu scoffed, swinging his lunch bag awkwardly back and forth and walking ahead of Eun Jae.

The quiet smile on Eun Jae’s face, trailing behind him, somehow felt deeply meaningful.

“She seems incredibly kind and genuinely nice—Nurse Lee Na Rim, I mean.”

Tae Gyu, walking ahead, abruptly halted. Then he turned back toward Eun Jae with a flustered expression.

“What?”

“What do you mean, ‘what’? You’ve been staring at that nurse nonstop since earlier. Did you think I wouldn’t notice?”

“I received a lot of help from her while Mom was hospitalized, so I took a quick peek at her name tag.”

If even Ji Eun Jae—the famously oblivious one—noticed, it really must’ve been obvious.

“If you’re going to stare that obviously, why not just go talk to her?”

Eun Jae teased him, almost mocking his earlier self. Suddenly, cold sweat broke out—he wondered if Na Rim had sensed his gaze too.
