Tae Gyu popped a rolled omelet—served as a side dish in the clinic cafeteria—into his mouth. His chewing slowed gradually as he sank deeper into thought.

“Why did you flare up like that? Oh right—you used to space out and stare blankly at Nurse Lee every now and then.”

He wasn’t sure why that memory suddenly resurfaced, but Seok Hee’s words triggered a vivid recollection of himself gazing vacantly at Na Rim.

It hadn’t happened just once or twice—by his own count, it occurred at least three times.

If someone were to ask him why he kept looking at Na Rim back then, he’d probably answer that Eun Jae and Na Rim kept oddly overlapping in his vision.

At the time, he was utterly obsessed with Ji Eun Jae—she was all he could see—so he’d assumed he kept seeing Eun Jae in Na Rim’s face.

Tae Gyu mentally superimposed Eun Jae’s and Na Rim’s faces side by side, searching for even the slightest resemblance between them.

Aside from height and build, there was nothing alike—not hair color, not eyes, not nose, not lips. Even their clothing styles were completely different.

Seeing how dissimilar the two appeared—too distant to ever be mistaken for one another—Tae Gyu shook his head, genuinely puzzled.

It felt impossible that he could’ve confused Na Rim with Eun Jae, and the whole situation didn’t seem serious enough to warrant such grim, deep contemplation.

Tae Gyu shoveled a large spoonful of rice into his mouth, hoping to clear his head—better yet, to let the thoughts simply vanish.

Just then, a group of nurses swarmed over to where Tae Gyu sat eating alone.

“Teacher Yoon, why are you eating by yourself?”

“Our schedules didn’t line up with the other teachers.”
